Some of my best batches have been modified kit beers, Jerry. All that matters is how good the beer is, not how much work you put into it or whether it was a kit or an all-grain full mash recipe. Once for a Christmas beer I used 3 cans (9.9 lbs) of M & F Old Ale, one lb of brown sugar and some Northern Brewer hops. I think I used EDME dry ale yeast. I added hazelnut flavoring at bottling. It turned out being sort a Scotch Ale or almost a Barley Wine. People still ask me to make it again. It was my most awesome beer ever. I haven't brewed anything in over a year.
