If you're like me, you sometimes find yourself behind the power curve on certain items, like say guns and knives. What I mean is that I have often found out about a knife I really like only to find out it is no longer made. And as I said I sometimes find myself getting a gun that isn't one of the wildly popular guns (like a G19 or one of the baby Glocks). Well it seems like this G48 may be kinda like that. Then again it may just be to new for the major players (holster makers, and other accessory manufacturers) to climb on the band wagon yet.

Well one of our own great dawgs, David Brown turned me on to a manufacturer, Shield Arms who makes magazines for the G43X and G48 at least that holds 15 rounds in the normal 10 round mag size. Gonna have to look in to this as they also sell extension kits, springs, base plates and other assorted goodies. Thanks Dave.

OK, Shield Arms sells A LOT more stuff gun related and also some other items as well. Oh and Here is something I copied from their site.

From Glock:

Chambered in 9mm Luger the G48 features a compact Slimline frame and a black slide with an nDLC finish. The 10-round magazine capacity makes it ideal for concealed carry.

Designed for comfort, The G48 combines a compact-size grip length, a built-in beaver tail and a minimal profile for a comfortably balanced, versatile grip that's ideal for a variety of users.

The frame features elements of the Gen5 and Slimline series such the short trigger distance, a frame with a built-in beavertail, a reversible magazine catch and the incredibly accurate, match-grade GLOCK Marksman Barrel (GMB) and precision-milled front serrations.

I keep feeling better about this purchase all the time.

No wonder you like the G48 so much. The grip is smaller than the regular Glock and fits your, shall we say, delicate hands better.

I wouldn't call my hands delicate Ray. But Short and Pudgy fingers, yeah. I wear a size 10 or 11 ring and a lot of times it's tight. Usually when I'm retaining water. grin

What caliber lever guns?

I always wanted a 357 lever gun but I never got the stars to align. I did end up snagging a JM stamped Marlin 336 some years ago but I don't think I've ever shot the thing. When I plan a range trip I'm either sighting in hunting rifles or just heading out to pop some targets. I have a few other rifles I prefer for hunting and 30-30 just isn't my first choice for plinking so the little Marlin keeps getting left at home. I'm not even sure I want to keep it at this point. I'd probably shoot a .22lr lever gun a few thousand times more.

I spent most of the day at the range. I got there a little after 10:30am and left at 5:45pm. I thought I would hit the pistol range but spent the whole time on the rifle range.

A trip like that makes you really glad you don't have to buy ammo at today's prices just to sight in a gun. I was helping a guy sight in a AR10 but we had to start all the way from get the scope mount tightened down. When we did start shooting we had some communication errors that took us off paper twice and wasted about 12-15 rounds. I'm thinking he paid a current prices for that ammo. I grabbed the rest of my cheap fmj and got him back on paper and ran it out to 50 yards hitting just left of the bullseye. He was just happy to see rounds on paper. I gave him the rest of the box of ammo to see if he could get it on the bullseye before we left. He didn't lol...

I shot a hand full of rifles and overall was pretty happy with the results.

Went to check the zero in the FNAR which is setup for hunting. Wrong ammo...

I shot the SCAR out to 300 yards with some good results. My first and only group on paper at 300 yards was about 3.5" with FGMM. Slightly smaller groups at 200 yards. I'm pretty happy with that as this is my first time shooting out to 300 ever. I'm thinking about a trigger upgrade at some point.

I also shot the Anschutz 22lr SCAR clone out to 100 yards. That thing has impressed me every single time I've shot it. I was just plinking today but it deserves a range trip on its own.

I sighted in the Howa Mini action in 7.62x39 and it looks like it has some real potential.

I ran the AK a little bit. Just with iron sights and it was boring and reliable as usual. Next time I'll setup a few targets at multiple distances and go back and forth. I would love to shoot a Hickok45 type of range with it at some point.

The AR9 was doing great but the screws holding the red dot to the base came loose. Now I'm wishing I had put loctite on all my redots.

I was mostly shooting from a bench off of a rest. Both the AK and AR9 I shot standing but next time I will set up multiple targets. I need to look into a range that will let you shoot steel.

All in all a good trip.
