Dont forget to comment on sheaths. Whether you are using a Scrapyard Sheath or another sheath.

The great thing about beating your head against a wall is that it feels so good when you stop.

My comment is: the cordura sheath should be INCLUDED with the knife!

I plan on buying a more modern camera soon, so hopefully I will be posting some pics of my scrapper in action before too long.

What was the edge like on ya'lls Scrapper? Mine is not impressive, will barely cut paper. I might have got a dud though.

the LE is not sterile -- and they sheath has velcro instead of snap retainer and the liner is clear plastic instead of black (i cheated -- i had one already -- but hey, that's why we have two hands, right?)
Klink - you're right, i'm grinning like an idiot...

also, some completely trivial details for nerds like me who pay attention to useless minutia:
The new one has a slightly larger choil than the one bought at Blade, the new blade is just a hair narrower, has a thicker edge, and feels just slightly heavier (might be a nanometer thicker). wow, what beautiful knives... I just realized, i don't know of any other production knife in S7 steel... I wonder if this is the first?

The first one i got online from some lucky bastid who actually got to go to the Blade show cut paper right out of the box. the new one won't, and is noticably thicker, more of a chopping edge. I was able to get the first one sharp enough to pop hairs, but the new one, i think is just to thick to get that sharp without reprofiling it -- also do you have the convex or the zero edge? That might make a difference... Does anyone have both?

My LE just arrived moments ago.

First impression is that it sure is pretty. The bare steel really looks nice. Not a mark on it, except for the logo. The edge is good. It will slice paper easily. The Res-C handle feels great of course and the knife seems very well balanced.

It is almost a shame that I do not intend to use it. This one is going to be my first safe queen. Once the Ren-Wax dries she will be put away for a long sleep.

After the credit card gets paid off I will order one of the "Standard" Scrapper 6's to use and abuse.

Rich -- sounds like you got a peach. wanna trade it for a less sharp one so i can beat the tar out of it? lol. it's probably a good thing that mine had a thicker edge...

so Rich you mean yours doesn't even have any tiny little "swirly" scratches from being sharpened?

Mine came from SYKCO yesterday. Mine like yours has a super fat edge that looks like it would need serious reprofiling to get any kind of cutting edge on it.

Mine will barely slice paper, unlike my first BattleRat. However, I am VERY pleased with the knife.

not to worry fellow14 -- just a little love, and she'll be poppin' hairs, if you want it as a slicer -- i had to work on mine a bit, but it seems that some of them are profiled for chopping -- which indeed seems more consistent with res-c and S7...

If you look at the pics you can see that it looks like they just barely uncovered the steel. I had to scrape the last bit of crinkle coating off the very tip. I'm just trying to figure out if it is just mine or if this is what they considered the ideal edge from the company. Keep in mind that the pic of the tip is only the first inch or so.

I just got mine, and no logo. Being the first knive in the line i wanted the logo. I wish they would have stated on the web-site that it does not have the logo.

You and me both mate. I guess I thought I would get what was pictured. Although my reason is kind of silly. I have a pit and just thought it was neat that a knife company had a pissed off pit as their logo.

Hmm, some of these comments about poor finishing and no logos are a little disapointing, especially for the very first knife offered. I hope mine comes with a logo and a decent grind, I held off a Ontario RAT because of some of their quality control issues.

so Rich you mean yours doesn't even have any tiny little "swirly" scratches from being sharpened?
If there are any, my old eyes cannot see them. Later tonight I will put it under the magnifying glass and take a better look.

Although I think the Yard's logo is cool, I'm not complaining about the sterile blade. The only complaint I have is that the sheath is not included - after all, it IS a sheath knife!

Yeah i understand, and just want to know if they do come with the logos. There is nothing wrg with the blade i got today and it will be used hard. I just was expecting a logo for my collection."No worries" My wife ordered me a LE last night (i hope the LE has it) and when i find out if there are the black ones with a logo i will get one of thoes to keep the LE company in the safe.

I got mine today. It didn't have a logo and wasn't all that sharp but it sure could chop. After a reprofile it shaves. Great knife at a good price. I'm happy.

As promised I took a look under the magnifying glass and in bright light and I cannot see little swirls or any kind of ugly marks on the blade of my LE. There are some very light brush lines that run from the spine to the edge which I assume are left over from the polishing process. They are faint and in now way detract from the beauty of the blade.

Maybe I got lucky, or maybe my standards are not as high as some of the folks who post here but in my opinion the LE is a darn good knife and real value for the money.

I'm with you -- i think it's the best value i've seen -- i'm a huge S7 fan, and i don't know of any other production knives that use it, esp. with a Busse heat-treat... i can't ask for anything more... except maybe a satin finished SR-77 Mojo -- it's kind of depressing -- once i have one of those, it will be hard to get excited about any other knife. It might ruin me... (

KittenS -- plural?!! oh, man i feel for you! one perk of not being married, i guess. And the fact that i don't buy anything else -- why waste knife $ on non-knife related activities?? but oh, man those kittens will break the bank!

Weaseal - you have one terrific wife! I'm happy that my wife doesn't complain when I get another knife. I hope the Yard rolls out a couple of new models before December, as I think I could convince my wife to buy me one for my birthday and/or Christmas. Tom

Now you're talking GF ! Remind us on the 24th, and we can send her a "Happy Birthday!". Then you can say something like "see Honey, even the guys from the forum wish you well - now, don't you think that I deserve another knife?!?". It wouldn't hurt to try! Tom

GF - since it is April's "golden birthday", you had better plan on something nice. A dinner at a nice restaurant for starters, and a dozen roses. Then you coyly slip in a "Honey, if I had a new Scrap Yard knife I could help cut the rose stems in order to keep them fresh". Be creative on this one!

Andy - EXCELLENT suggestion! As a clincher, GF can always tell April that she can use the knives and axe too. That is, if he isn't using them, fondling them, or looking at them.

My comment is: the cordura sheath should be INCLUDED with the knife!

AMEN! Becker can toss in a sheath on a 40 dollar knife and pull a profit. Although Camillus apparently isn't pulling much of a profit. I might prefer SYKCO up the price of a scrapper 5 bucks or so and toss the sheath in.

I'm with you Blondie. The Yard already charges almost twice of what it costs to ship to me (the price was on the Package). I know that most people are tired of hearing me voice my opinion of the sheath "option", but I still think that the no sheath policy is wrong. This is why I bought a few Fallknivens (WITH nice leather sheaths) instead of Swamp Rats.

Hi guys,

IIRC from this discussion at the Swamp, the decision to not include the sheath was due to the fact that so many people just toss them in favor of custom sheaths. Leaving the sheaths available as a choice prevents wasted money on the part of the company and the customer.

If you'd prefer, you can always think of it as $109 for a knife with an included sheath. IMO, still a bargain.

Added: I suppose the other option would be for them to add $18 to the price of every knife and send a sheath, thus making the purchase of a sheath mandatory. I don't know about you guys, but I'd rather that this wasn't the case.

i appreciate the choice, personally -- and fwiw, these are really good sheathes for $18, in my opinion... i like that, though -- why pay for something you are not going to use -- asking them to comp the sheath might be a mistake, since it would be coming off the bottom line (someone has to pay for it), it would just be reflected in the cost of the blade or the success of the company, which will affect things like quality and development going forward...

Just got my Scrapper6---
edge SHAVING sharp--
feels great---
fit and finish execellent--
bought the sheath from S.Y.K. and it is a good choice if you are not getting custom pants made. I like the extra pocket and the good quality cordura. Blade retention is by velcro wrap and quite secure. MOLLE compat...good deal IMO.
Gonna have to go hiking this weekend....Got mine scary fast. Great service.
