As my collection of Busse kin has grown I've come to realize idk which knives would make the cut and go in my BOB. I assume one wants a large and a small. Or large med and small. So let's take a look at the collection and decide would would get paired up? What would you take and would would you leave? My options are Scrapyard: 2 1311s, 911, 3 regulators, 511, 411, 311, mud mutt, wiener dog, war dog hack, scrapivore LE, HDDD, scrapmax 460, scrapmax 375.
Swamprat: MO KDSH, R9, 3 INFIMANDUs, rodent solution, custom shop vex,
Busse combat: NMFBM, 2 b10LE, 2 BGASH, custom shop sus Scrofa, (2 battle saws on order)

OK, for the large one (Pack carry) I'd say the 1311 (19 oz)for it's obvious larger size, reach and cutting ability. IF you are concentrating on weight go with the 911 (16.7 oz) as it is a coupe ounces lighter.
Medium one (to be worn ON your pants belt) the 411, War Dog, or the S5. they are all within an ounce of each other ranging from 5.9 up to 6.75 with the s5le running 6.6.
For a small, detail blade... the Rodent Solution or the vex (don;t have weights availale, sorry). But my favorite in this size would be the Muppy. A fantastic and classic GREAT smaller blade, and at 5 ounces it wouldn't be all that noticeable.
So for a grand total of either
So for a total weight of 3.1 pounds you could have something to satisfy each and every "Niche" required.

I'll play...any of the bigger blades plus either the War Dog hack or the RMD...plus a folder or 2. One of the smaller ones like the RS, wiener or scrapmaxx in the pack...

Skunk, out of curiosity, why go for the 411 instead of the Mud Mutt for the medium sided blade? The 411 is slightly thicker than the Mud Mutt (.1875” vs .148”) but also has a slightly shorter blade (4.5” vs 5”) and overall is shorter (9.5” vs 10”). The extra length of the Mud Mutt equates to an extra ounce of weight (5.9 vs 6) and both have the same grind and are made of the same steel.
Don’t get me wrong, I have and like both blades, but was wondering why you picked one over the other.
Remember this: Everytime I blink, you disappear.

Mastiff and Gun Dog. I went with the 411 as a personal preference. The 411 has a slightly pointer tip on it and the little extra thickness will just possibly give a more confident feeling. Actually I was gonna put the Mudd Mutt but I actually like the 4.5 inch blade more than the 5 incher. No other reasons, just personal preference. ANY of the knives GD listed would work.
Oh and I should mention I also have both knives and just for some reason (probably being so old and used to that back then thicker knives were stronger knives) like the 411 a touch better. Seems to balance, for me, better.

Hahaha I wish I had those! Me TOO, but the .18 inch version only. I have the .250 CGASH and it's just heavier than I like. Now if anyone has a thinner one and wants the quarter inch...

Thank for clarification Randy. Something I discovered im I'm not a big fan of large finger choil a on small blades. That's why I picked up the mud mutt at the creek.

To my thinking the first question should be: what is my BOB for? Getting home to the family farm? Living off the land like Griz Adams? Running to the hills to fight off the invading Jamican Bobsled Team?
Determine your mission, establish your area of op - and then pick your gear.
My needs are my own, but as I age I become more weight sensitive. This comes at the expense of gear redundancy. My knife choices are: NMSFNO and a 4" bush-crafter. I'm still in search of the perfect crafter, but am currently using a Swamp Warden.
