The kits I have include a folding handle on the interior "bowl". I leave it out of the kit for weight savings, but in all honesty...I should probably put it back in because it adds versatility.

Back to the axiom...

weight vs durability vs redundancy vs practicability

Randy,
Ban me if this is a violation...

https://bushcraftusa.com/forum/threads/stainless-nalgene-fail.90378/

I goggled "stainless Nalgene broke" and found a bunch of articles. This was on the top and shows the weak area I was trying to describe. Mine failed in the same location, but on the bottom.

If you're having durability issues with plastic Nalgenes they're probably the newer BPA free version. The older BPA plastic models were more flexible, but leached BPA into the water..which is bad.

Decision...a potential third nipple or a potential busted bottle?

My solution..two BPA free bottles and a boil kit. If I manage to break both bottles and the metal boil kit...Darwin was right and Communism wins so I want to die of dehydration anyway.

WE DONE BEEN VIOLATED, NOT!
I don't think there is anything to worry about Gary. You are just referencing an article about an important "Survival" gear item failing and possible things to look out for before buying.

I have broken several of the BPA free Nalgene bottles. I am a little rough with them. I almost always have a spare at home. For outside of work I keep a GSI cup nestled with the bottle to boil.

I should have asked. The stainless is twice the price.

I just ordered an EGO 20-Inch 56-Volt Lithium-ion Cordless Lawn Mower for my wife. Man, she is never satisfied. She complained that pulling the starter cord on the gas mower was too hard and she didn't like the noise and the smell of the fumes. So I got her an electric mower. Then she complained that the cord was always in the way and was aiways getting tangled up. So now I got her a cordless mower. She will probably complain that it has no seat or air conditioning.
