Of course we all heard what Beto said. Guess there's one honest one among the bunch, sometimes, well at least this one time, partly at least, maybe.

Sometime back I think I reported that I read George Orwell's 1984. We are seeing more of that prophetic novel coming to fruition every day. I have heard it reported that it is enforced even more all over Europe. Cameras everywhere and "stop and frisk" for no more reason that THEY are bored.

Another book written years ago (Yeah it's kind of a kids book) is Jerry and Sharon Ahern, titled The Free Man. Just replace the invading hoard (Russian advisors) with your invading country of choice and it paints a very telling story of how our country will ultimately fall.

The only thing Orwell got wrong was the year...

Heehee! Just ordered a Rock Island 1911 A2 Ultra FS HC 10mm. THAT was the 10mm I wanted grin 5" 10mm with 16 rounds of 10mm. For $569 shipped, and a $50 rebate, I am getting this for the best price I've seen on a used one at auction on Gunbroker. Hope I don't drop it overboard on its inaugural fishing trip (I lose more guns that way...).

IF I get a good one, the reviews are great: easy to shoot; great capacity; accurate and fun; reliable and well-crafted. If I don't, maybe 5% of reviews hate it: it's a jam-o-matic (FTF, FTE, stovepipes, etc); chews up brass and/or ejects 50 feet; can't hit the broad side of a barn from 10 inches out; andmakes people generally angry they wasted their cash.

FORTUNATELY, like a Scrap Yard, they come with a forever warranty that applies to the gun, not the user. If, after 300 rounds (or sooner if needed), the accuracy or reliability or function doesn't measure up to what it SHOULD be, I can send it back, on their dime, and they will repair or replace it. I've yet to read a negative review that remained negative IF the owner actually utilized customer service.

My only regrets are:

1) I bought a 4.25" single stack RIA Ultra MS 10mm (8+1) earlier this summer, thinking it was a full size. Got it for a great price, and picked up a bunch of extra mags, but not sure I have a use for it (seems heavy for concealed carry and short for hunting).

2) I don't have the funds to get a RIA "Rock" FS 45acp
($400-425). grin

3) I still want a Springfield XDm FS 5.25" in 10mm grin It's still fairly new, so there aren't (m)any used ones pushing down the prices. 4.25" barrels can be found under $500, but the 5.25" barreled guns are still around $650.

I love my 5.25" XDm 45. It is by far the easiest shooting pistol I have, and the easiest to shoot accurately. I suspect the 10mm will THRIVE in that platform as well. I just can't bring myself to drop that coin on that gun smirk

Maybe I'll list the 10mm locally and see if I get any takers in the next few days. To get the rebate on the 45, I need to buy the gun by the 15th. Doesn't leave much time for dilly-dallying...

Anyone have anything bad to day about RIA? Should I cut my losses here?

Well I’m finally on the 6.5 Grendel train. I won a Satern Liberty 20in Barrel at a match so now I’m building a light weight DMR upper. Using a precision armament hyper tap muzzle brake, Odin works adj gas block, aim surplus rifle length gas tube, BCM upper receiver, RCA low mass BCG with POF roller cam pin, Leupold VX3-LRP 4.5-14 FFP with the CCH reticle. I need to pick up a Geissele MK18 handguard and charging handle.

You're young, hang in there and keep up with the good work ethics even if others don't. ANYONE can be replaced, but if you can be/stay happy in your work it isn't really a job.

Are you going to share the upper with a lower or will it get its own love?
