Just picked up a S&W 340 PD! What a hand cannon. I have about 60rds of .38 and 20rds of .38+p and 15rds of .357 through it.

Nice. I like those for LW field carry.

I just returned from my FFL's shop ... picked up my new Tikka T3X Stainless Lite in 308 Win. The Leupold VX3i 3.5-10x40mm CDS and DNZ mount arrived last night. Hoping this rig shoots as well as everyone claims. I'd like to try it on whitetail.

Very nice combo. I picked up the 340 to carry while running and for around the house chores like working on cars and mowing the lawn. I started carrying it to my work since I don’t often stop going to or coming home. Makes a nice little BUG as well but is a handful with the Barnes and Sig defense ammo.

Gun Dog,
All machismo aside is the 340 recoil manageable? Follow up shot speed?

With the .38+P it’s easy for fast follow up shots. .357 is slower and I wouldn’t want to have to shoot it with a one handed grip in a fight.
Mostly the .357 just causes you to flinch I’m a Glock guy normally and do well with them but I can keep 98% of my shots with the 340 in a 6in group at 21ft with all ammo types. I need more practice with that trigger and I’m sure it will get better.

Your Bolt Gun is sweet! I just set up a seekins havak pro hunter with a leupold MK5 in 6.5CM as a light long range rig. Couldn’t have afforded it but had a 35% off code for seekins and a 50% off leupold so I figured with those I should reach for as much fun and glass as I could.

Yeah, Leupold prices have become a little outlandish. With each “revision” they just push the old technology down to the lower model designation. Today’s VX1 is superior to a VX3 of 12-15 years ago.

The $1000 Mk4’s I’ve owned pale in comparison to the light transmission, clarity, edge clarity and light “management” of the $350 VX3i I just mounted.

I’ve heard nothing but great things about the Leupold 5 and 6 series. Can’t even imagine.

Wish my Viper PST FFP had 1/2 the clarity of this VX3i.
