Gun Dog, what do you think of your 6.5C (cartridge ... not your rifle which is unimpeachable)?

Why did you select it over 308? I probably know what you’re going to say, but I am genuinely curious.

I’ve been thinking about a 65C project, but ammo costs ....

Gary, That's a nice looking piece there sir! Just hang in there, you know British stiff upper lip and all.

Mike that is a nice looking boom stick. I only have one revolver, a SS S&W model 60-10 with a 3 inch barrel. I THINK it equates to the "OLD" FBI gun,

So I went with 6.5CM for a few reasons. The long range ammo is about the same cost as the .308 equivalent, external ballistics and ability to fight the wind at long range is also an advantage. Also I have 2 AR10s in .308 and an almost completed AR15 upper in 6.5 Grendel. My heavy 6.5 bolt gun is a savage action with a proof research stainless barrel and an XLR industries envy chassis with the full arca Swiss rail. This is a PRS style build I topped with a razor genII with the EBR7 reticle. The seekins havak did have to go back to seekins for a new trigger since the timney it shipped with had some series safety and function issues after less than 100rds.

Randy is love to pick up the S&W 4in K frame 617 in 22LR and the 6in 648 In .22WMR. I traded for an Alexander arms .17HMR AR15 not to long ago. Starting to think of the rimfire guns I want for when my son is older so we can shoot 500rds a weekend and not go broke lol.

OK, I've changed my mind (my old one was getting rusty what with not getting used at a certain knife website.

So I have been on a sword kick lately and have, I think, found my grail. I have wanted a "Samurai" sword since I was about 10 years old. That would make it 56 years come the 22nd. I have had a couple wall hangers, and I DO have a real WWII "Liberated" Wakizashi". But I have been wanting a "Real" blade or blades. Not that I will actually use them (I HOPE), but if a knife or sword can not be used I don't really have any interest in them. That's just me. There are thousands of swords and knives out there that are beautiful. Some WAY to expensive for this Southeast Missouri Redneck and some just decorative wall hangers. They ARE pretty but just aren't my cup of tea (homage to our new pretend British Law man Endeavour Morse.

I have been on a Sword search lately and finally found what I want to get. The first is called a KO-Katana (correctly called an O-Wakizashi) that has a 24 inch blade with a full size 11 inch Tsuka (handle). The second is a 9 inch bladed Tanto. They are touted as being suitable for fairly heavy cutting (backyard stuff) and Dojo practice, so they should be pretty robust blades. Several reviews have said they are very sturdy and capable blades. SO it looks as if my CRKT Kangee T-hawk will have to wait. I am NOT heartbroken about this. BUT I will have to wait until late March as I won't start getting my Gummit check until the Third week in March (they pay a month behind don'tchaknow).

Gun Dog,
Those are the reasons I anticipated (and which have caused me to consider a 6.5C barrel for my QD AR10).

People seem to have ridiculous luck with 140 ELDs.

Randy,
Only swords that have traditionally interested me have been Viking and Templar (perhaps Medieval).

The various "Asian inspired" offerings by Busse have not really appealed to me. I did get one in a $500 grab bag (SR Rucki), but I quickly sold it. If the Busse team would offer a SR101 Viking sword ... I'd buy it. Like you ... I don't want anything that I can't use (however unlikely I am to actually use it ... no wall hanger for me).

One of the highest rated (Fighting Sword) deadly swords is the Gladius. The Romans slaughtered thousands if not millions with that blade. MANY highly regarded experts claim it to be the most deadly close combat blade there is. You have to admit it was rather successful. But My desire is one of the Eyes and maybe heart. I, as I have said have wanted a "Japanese" sword, and not a wall hanger one, for over 50 years. No rhyme or reason to it, I just like them. smile

You have a Vorpal too right Randy?

I really like the rucki I got in my grab bag. Have tendonitis so bad though can't do a thing with it still.

Yeah I do Rich. Not one made by Maringer himself, but a blackjack rendition.

Maringer Vorpal Sword by Blackjack Knives

This Vorpal sword by Tom Maringer features a matte finished blade with sharpened top edge,.209" blade stock and 1.734" blade depth, full tang construction with black linen micarta scales. Comes with a black leather sheath. Marked Effingham Ill.

This line is NOT my actual sword, but the one I have. Sorry for what the link is but it is the best pic I have been able to find. I actually just mink oiled the sheath on mine the other day and hung it back in the closet. grin
