Missouri's population of black bears is growing; a couple of years ago my neighbor's Dad said he saw a sow with two cubs about three miles from us. Then someone took a picture of a fair sized bear walking on the blacktop road that goes around the lake (Stockton). I just don't want any to show up on my property! They are real common here, even in the subdivisions

I think I would have a bear skull on my desk and maybe a rug on the floor.

Tom, have you ever lifted a bear skin? One year when we were in the Smokies they were having a show and tell for a group of school kids out in Cades Cove at the Visitors Center. The lady just started putting up a bear skin when we walked up and she offered to take it back out of the box and let us hold it while she took out picture. It was really neat, but man was it heavy.

Bill. I'm confused. I have been told that bear is quite tasty, along with moose.

A lot of people like bear meat. With bear a lot depends on the bears diet. I have tried it numerous times and done different ways and I don't like it. You can make decent pepperoni with it, but it is more in the spices. IMHO Elk is the best Mule deer/blacktail deer Fallow deer Whitetail deer Caribou Moose
I don't like Bear Cougar Mountain goat Mountain sheep Fish

I believe it was an article in Peterson's Hunting magazine that said cougar was a lot like pork, and just another white meat. I guess it all depends on how hungry you are.

Oh that is SO tempting Bill. But being a family friendly site WE won't go there.
