Pour the water through a couple feet of sand, then charcoal to clean it up, then boil for safety. Good to go without clogging up any smaller filters.

Some places also recommend a layer of grass as well on top of the sand just to help filter out the bigger particles.

My brother in law was tested for antibodies and he was positive, so apparently his family had it and recovered well. They are all younger which helped I'm sure; apparently the worst symptoms were like the basic flu bug.
