You should look for Hight Plains South West of Boise. Looks like not much out there so land might be fairly cheap (IF it's not all BLM land) I know most of the hunting I did out there was on BLM property. Of course that was in '81 and '82. Some things MIGHT have changed since then. But you know those hillbillies. wink

I love to Kayak. One of my favorite places in the world to Kayak is 2 hours away from where I'm looking.

I went to look at the area last year. The Boise area isn't my thing. It reminds me too much of Denver. I can't stand the Denver area. I could never live in Denver. It skeeves me out. I'm looking for smaller towns and even then outside of town.

There are a lot of smaller town in the S.E. Good on you for not wanting to be a townie. Getting a well put down (something I highly recommend) of your own might be a large expense, but could really prove worth it. I would also recommend an alternate power source. If I remember Idaho has a lot of sunshine and wind might also be a consideration. Also if you are near enough, or ON a good stream or small river you could harness it for your own hydroelectric source. This assumes of course that you have as much money as Tom and Ray. That way you could build a REAL NICE compound complete with your own armory and range and all kinds of other goodies.

Moving up to Idaho you will be closer to Chris Reeves knives and Buck. Well I mean sorta close, kinda. Maybe you could do some surveillance and dig through their refuse pile at night and get some really nice stuff! grin

I will most likely be on a well. I want to build a healthy shop. I want to put solar on the roof of the shop if I can. It is just something I want to try.

Gun laws in Idaho regulate the sale, possession, and use of firearms and ammunition in the state of Idaho in the United States. Idaho is a "shall issue" state for concealed carry. The local county sheriff shall issue a concealed weapons license to a qualified applicant within 90 days.

Here ya go.

That's one of the first things I looked at. Then knife laws. Luckily they are constitutional carry and I can carry in all 50 as long as I keep up on yearly quals.

The last couple years before I retired it got rougher to go back each time I went on vacation. I WAS gonna stay until the election this year but I just got so burned out I couldn't take it any more. I ALMOST upped my retirement to DEC 31 2019 but then decided I wanted to complete a Full 25 years there. Now Patty and I set back and enjoy our half dozen paychecks, So PLEASE everyone, keep paying your taxes grin

Oh I'm sure that with your Resume you could cozy up to the local Sheriff's Dept and not have any problems at all.

LOL, I had originally planned on doing 29 years here. But the state changed enough to kill that. I'm over 25 now. I'm just holding out until my wife hits her 20 year mark and we are out. I'm already selling bigger stuff. Sold my motorcycle last month and we are thinking hard about selling our camper this month.

I only plan on moving irreplaceable items, sporting goods, ATV's and items with sentimental value. I don't plan on moving beds, furniture or TV's when we go. It will still take a couple of trips with a healthy cargo trailer.
