I received a knife from a maker/seller on eBay; a Bowie (of course) with a hammer finished 10" blade...sweet! smile

OK, as I said earlier I got my 511 Thursday. clap Didn't get a chance to really look at it Thursday or Friday until after Dad's Memorial service. frown

But I have looked (OK, FONDLED it) thumbsup for a bit and here ya go.

It is a FANTASTIC knife! It might replace my beloved Muppy as my ScrapYard Favorite. Yes I think it's that good.

The handle isn't really all that large but for the knife it is quite sufficient. I do wish the "Choil" was about 1/8 inch longer so my fat finger would fit in there without getting endangered by the end of the sharpened edge, but If I am careful I can make do. PLUS I could always just blunt that much If I felt I needed to.

The blade Size is just right for unobtrusive belt carry and is just shaped perfectly. It has enough straight edge to it to do quite a bit of work and just enough belly to allow for skinning if or when required. And it has a good point without being a "Needle".

I have held it in several different grips and it does feel good in all them, but alas I have not cut anything but air, something it excels at (I mean it was sharpened by Garth after all) bowdown wink

SO FAR do I like it? Yup, sure do. The only thing it needs is a sheath. Who do any of you 511 owners recommend for a sheath maker and what kind. I am seriously thinking about a pouch sheath (Or possibly a scout sheath) of some kind or plastic IF I can get it built so the "Mouth" of the sheath kinda wraps around the handle some. I Don't like those wide open, easy to insert openings on so many kydex sheaths, so that might mean I need leather.

For kydex, I like Buy Brown. He has a hosted forum on the other website or you can go to:

http://www.buybrownind.com/

He will usually work with a customer's ideas and is very familiar with Busse blades.

Big Dave has been making sheaths for Bussekin knives for a long time. At Blade show he normally sets up right across from the Busse booth; he does nice work and I have a few of his sheaths myself. wink

Eric at Mashed Cat and AZ Welke make great kydex sheaths as well, just to name a couple more.

I know about those folks and have some stuff from Eric AND Welke. May have to give all three another look.

I have to mention RainWalker: Jeff is a real craftsman and makes outstanding sheaths in leather OR kydex! wink
