I use flexible plastic clips at the range. You have to be careful which ammo you use. If the cases aren't crimped on the projectiles properly then the recoil can cause them to become dislodged from the cases. I discovered this when the cylinder wouldn't rotate after the first shot. The projectiles had worked themselves forward out of the cases because there's no magazine to keep them contained. I had to reseat them with a stick so the cylinder would swing out.

45 autorims are just rimmed ammo so you find have to use clips.

Oh ok. So the shells do not headspace on the case mouths, right. At least I don't think they do.

OK. Mark this down. Today I was correct, at least once.

For those of you with children old enough, what was the first firearm you gave them?

My dad gave me an old Springfield single shot .22 bolt action rifle and a bolt action .410 shotgun that he had bought from an old widow for my 10th birthday. I'd love to give the .22 to my son when he's old enough, but it doesn't have a safety and it is a pain to caulk and de-caulk (censors won't let me say [censored]). That breaks my heart because I wanted to continue the tradition. I think I'll be getting him a Savage Rascal with a wooden stock instead, hopefully he can continue the tradition with his son.

My first gun was a SGW lowered AR15A1 my uncle and I built. I was 10.

This is if you discount the S&W Victory that I was given as a "test run". The firing pin was removed.

I was 9.

I've owned AR15s continuously for the past 30 years.
