I promised I would share my solution for the gap when I came up with one... my best do it yourself solution for the gap that some of you may have and want to fix... at least its the best I could come up with so far....

I wanted a super sticky, durable, long lasting, waterproof, sealing, flexible solution... so I'm going with the Marine version of GOOP... you know.... that stuff to fix shoes... I've used the regular version and the marine version... great on all types of materials including flexible materials... and I've used it on rubber and wetsuits etc.... its got some uv resistance and is a super bond and seal...

Meets my needs and requirements just fine and my 2 Scrappers are super duper Scrappers ready for the Hawaiian salt air and water everywhere.... (yes... I helped out others with 4 of mine at cost.. but I kept the 2 with the largest gaps... 1 to beat up... and one for making sheaths)....

Hope that helps....

No worries.... You're welcome... and the recipients were very happy....... its all good....

I'm gonna try two different solutions and let the Yard know how they work out.... one is the Marine GOOP and the other is special urethane sealant and binder that I've used and works great ... uv strong and very very flexible... waterproof and bonds like crazy to rubber/petroleum type products.... has the added advantage of being black.... the Goop is clear....
Took a pic so folks would know what to look for if they wanted to try it out.... but haven't figured out how to post it yet... anyway the second solution is called AquaSeal by McNett... probably available in dive shops etc.... they use it to repair wetsuits and drysuits as well as seals on masks etc.... if anyone can't find it ..... let me know... Hawaii's got marine supply shops all over the place... both are priced around $6-7.00 for the tube and it goes a long way...

Again... hope this helps....
