yesterday i mentioned i was going to try & get out & use my urban mutt a bit.
well the wife is outta town & im bored. so i grabbed a few things & went to the backyard & surveyed the situation.

everything look good back there..
[Linked Image from i4.photobucket.com]

birdhouse hasnt moved..
[Linked Image from i4.photobucket.com]

the undergrowth i cleared out is still there...
[Linked Image from i4.photobucket.com]

WELL seasoned firewood....i think i should try & baton my urban mutt through some of it...

[Linked Image from i4.photobucket.com]

so i go back to all the limbs ive trimmed & find a baton.

i then returned to the clearing behind the firewood plie & set up.

[Linked Image from i4.photobucket.com]

the wood is extremely tough & my baton doesnt have enough weight behind it.
[Linked Image from i4.photobucket.com]

right here i hit a snag. i had tap the handle & blade back & forth to get the knife unstuck.
[Linked Image from i4.photobucket.com]

i had to "see-saw" it about 3 times until i discover the hold-up...
that knot was the culprit..

[Linked Image from i4.photobucket.com]

just a few more whacks w/ the baton & im done..

[Linked Image from i4.photobucket.com]

edge is still sharp...my laughable attempt at fuzz sticks

[Linked Image from i4.photobucket.com]

these guys made the trip..

Nice yard, Vance. Isn't nice to have your own playground? I'm 61 and still enjoy playing in mine.

Hey Vance, a tip for the squirrel problem…I read you can add ground up hot peppers to your birdseed. The OC only affects mammals. The squirrels will figure out real quick that their mouth burns whenever they try to eat the bird food. It doesn’t bother the birds at all, and actually it’s good for them, because it adds some extra vitamins to their diet. I’ve seen commercially made versions of this, but you can easily make your own with some ground up peppers added to the feeder. It might be entertaining watching the squirrels taste hot peppers for the first time.

The answer is CB caps in a .22. Quieter than a pellet rifle and deadly up close.

But to reach out and touch them, I like the 17 HMR. But it is not suitable for cities or crowded residential areas.

Isn't nature beautiful?
