At this moment in time, there probably wouldn't be a single Bussekin on the list

First would be a multi-tool, either my Gerber legend or Leatherman wave. I have a bunch of others, but those two are my favorites.

Second would probably be a more substantial folder - the old classic Spyderco endura with the plastic pocket clip makes its way into my jeans pretty regularly.

Third would be a big blade for serious work. At the moment, this pack is lead by my CS LTC kukri. I have a new M9LE but haven't had a chance to put it through its paces enough to be comfortable carrying it out into the great unknown. Without having actually used the big Rat, even my cheap Ka-Bar heavy bowie beats the M9 at the moment.

Once my new toys have gotten some more serious use, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Spyderco replaced by a smallish fixed blade, Bird Dog LE or something of the like for fine slicing, and the LTC replaced by the M9 or something else....

plus, with BLADE coming up in a week, I expect to have a couple of new goodies that could take the top of the list...

my selection would be similar to mustard man's. LTC, swisstool spirit, and either the endura, 110, mora, or a koster.

The three I normally take are my DMDC, Spyderco Tenacious and the same swisstool you have pictured.

Depends what kind of wilderness we were thrown into..

For me it would be my NMSFNO, Strider SMF, and Leatherman Multitool of some form.
I like beefy, hard to break knives.

Enjoy every sandwich.

really mag?
the LTC over an fbm?

idk... it's always hard for me to choose.

For the wilderness I would take the Mora or BRKT Canadian special, (though that one doesn't seem to fit my hands too well, so I'd probably go with a mora) BRKT Golok, and possibly an SAK.

If it were a SHTF or urban scenario, you bet I'd take some scrappers!

I think you underestimate the effectiveness of the LTC blade geometry. It's a very effective chopper, due to holding so much of its weight near the tip, but the deep recurve means it will blow a bowie style blade completely out of the water when doing things like clearing brush. It also weighs bit less than the FBM.

The only place where a straight blade would completely outshine the LTC in this 3-blade combination would be batoning, but I've beaten my LTC through some tough logs and never had it fail on me. It would have probably been a bit easier with a thicker bowie, but I'm willing to make that tradeoff for the slashing capabilities.

Now, if the question was limited to only ONE knife, instead of three, the LTC wouldn't be my choice - it absolutely sucks for any kind of detail work, and I would want a straight handled blade for that.

and this for my big chopper, if I didn't have such a cool rig for it I might pick something lighter but how can I resist carrying this with the sheath Jeff made for me

I do want to edit this to add that the Scrapper 5 will definitely be on this list when they arrive
