I am more a revolver fan for shooting. I have had a lot of different pistols through the my time but I can not settle on one. 1911's are probably my favorite pistol but I just sold mine to my bro to help him out. 9mm seems to be ok to plink with and carry in a limited role but if my life was on the line every day it would be a .45 or a .40 at min.

Bushy I don't have to buy the ammo for any of my issue weapons. But they don't issue a Bug. So I have to buy the bug and all ammo to carry it. They just give me an approved list of firearms and a specific brand type and bullet weight that I have to carry for a specific caliber.

Monkey, do they issue a rifle or carbine? What about a shotty?

fair enough, i was under the impression that your mandatory issued weapon had to be fed by YOU.....

I love my 1911. I carry a glock for a duty and bug as well as EDC. I use a 40 cal and am pretty happy with the round. Its a trade off but in real life use it has proven very effective.

I will date myself a bit but I learned to shoot in the acedemy with a revolver. Then they taught us with semi auto's. It was when a lot of agencies still had revolvers but were transistioning to Semi Auto's.

I can shoot a revolver very well but I prefer to work with my Glock or another quality semi auto pistol.

But these days I carry a small arsenal.

Sumo, they issue me a pistol, an 870 and I have a Ar-15 standard length barrell. I missed out on getting issued my old carbine.
