I was just wondering if there were any other 'yote slayers here. I live on the Yakima Indian Reservation and have a special permit to hunt on the "Rez". Part of the program is that we have to take blood samples and record some other information such age, sex, and location of kill.

There are so many coyotes this year. Last weekend, I saw over 12 in just over a couple of hours. We drive around the hot spots and take 200-400 yard action shots. Last weekend, I nailed one at about 250 yards. Not my longest kill, but a good start to the season. We will call them in later on in the season too. It's just more fun chasing them down.

Anyhow, just thought I'd ask if there were other's. I was considering posting pics but, a light .243 Win bullet going 3700 FPS can leave a mess.

I love hunting coyotes.

I usually hunt them after deer season around January time frame.

There are a bunch of them in Georgia this year.

I use my bushmaster AR-15 with 20" barrel for them and it works good.

Nice! That's a good size 'yote. Calling them in is fun. Thanks for sharing.
I use a Remington R-25 in a .243 win slinging 58 gr. Vmax about 3550fps. I went away from my .257 weatherby magnum because of the cost. I used to use a .204 ruger, but I had many dogs get away last year.

Just curious, as we do not have any coyote's here in FL - What's the purpose of hunting coyotes? Can/do you eat them? Is it strictly for sport? Population control?

I never heard of anybody eating a coyote.

I hunt them for sport and population control.

I hunt them for population control and sport. Also, I am part of a predator control program for the Yakima Nation. We take blood samples and other information that is used to determine numbers and health of the local wildlife.

Yakima - Isn't that in Washington ? At least you're on the right side of the state ! (the sunny side is the right side)

Like to hunt them, but usually if I have time to go out, I want something for the stew pot.

Burban,

Yakima is in Central Washington. Yes, and the east side of the mountains is also the politically right side of the state too:) As for eating dogs... I once heard an old relative threaten their family dog. He said, "shut-up or I'll eat you." I don't think he was joking.

I've also heard of the local taco trucks serving "tacos al pastor aleman". It's a play on words "german shepherd tacos" instead of "shepherd tacos".

KnotSlip,

" What's the purpose of hunting coyotes? Can/do you eat them? Is it strictly for sport? Population control? "

#1) It's a Blast and see below...
#2) Yes, but I don't.
#3) For most hunters...yes, although there are full time Predator Control Agents working all over the country to keep numbers in check and to protect many Livestock Rancher's way of life.
#4) The coyote is one of the most adaptive and successful animals on the planet....rumor has it that after the nukes are let loose...only coyotes and cockroaches will be left. Although their numbers are high, they are VERY difficult to hunt (Trapping is much more effective, but still difficult on educated animals).

Wiggitty,

" i like your t/c. nice set up. "

Thanks...it makes for a nice compact calling rifle! It's the most accurate rifle in my safe. It's wrapped in vet/pet wrap and the muzzle is taped for winter in the picture above.

Thanks for not hammering about the goofy camo glasses...they were last minute gas station replacements after losing my good set.

Here's a few more pictures of him, the terrain and the drive home...

They eat all the game animals! Hear them here all the time at night outside. Just tonight I had one of the dogs out and heard a dozen or more of them all yipping.

Going wolf hunting this winter, however I won't pass up a coyote while I am out. Have a Remington 700 SPS in .223 for the purpose. Strictly pelt hunting here, however with the wolves it is also to help out the moose population. Wolf population has spiked here and they are really doing a number on the moose. Saw one wolf pack last year that was about 14 animals. I've already seen some tracks that are showing packs of about 7 to 10 animals. Takes a lot of moose to feed them unfortunately...

Thinking of giving it a go this year.
Wife's great uncle runs a trap line and I've helped him check his traps a few times.

I was wondering what your setup was as well, then I looked again and saw the "pistol grip" and knew it was a T/C. I know it sounds dumb, but I always wondered how a "short barrel" could be more accurate than a "regular" rifle. I had an XP-100 in .223 for a while and traided it off for a 600 mohawk in .308 (like that rifle). Don't hunt here any more, but the Coyote population has grown over the last several years. It seems what when you have a successful conservation program, you also have a successful PREDATOR program even if you don't want it. I can walk outside the office here in town (1849 population) and hear them yipping from several directions.

We're thick with them down here. Good thing too, they keep the feral cat population in check. They're all over the King Ranch but you can't hunt there.

[Linked Image from i56.photobucket.com]

Drive from here to San Antonio and the roadside will be littered with them from being hit by vehicles. Go down to the Padre Island National Seashore and you'll see them but, you can't shoot them with anything but a camera.

Inside each knife is a new adventure waiting to be had...maybe some blood and probably some suture.

Coyotes almost wiped out the turkey population here in Georgia years ago and I hear they are doing a number on the deer population too.

You can hunt them all year round with anything you want.

So Sportsnut, you can use your coyote setup here in Georgia if you want

That's an amazing coyote gun. How accurate is that? What's your longest kill with that thing?

I have busted a few with varmint rounds but have never really got out and truly hunted them. I might give it a try this winter for fun.

I know this much, if I were starving I would eat a yote before a rat or a lot of the other smaller vermin game.

Actually never killed anything but but targets, milk jugs, etc. If I was on the other end of the barrel I would want to be at least 300 yards down range and in a bunker.
This 1919 is converted from 7.62 x 51 to 8mm.

Here is the little brother also in 8mm.

TC is Thompson Center, they make some great rifles.

I have a T/C Encore .50 cal. muzzle loader and they are some really nice rifles.

The neat thing about them is you can get different caliber barrels.

I have not hunted them...yet. We are going to though.

Here in Iowa there is year-round open season, any gun you like. They are a pest.

There used to be a bounty on them. If I recall correctly, you had to bring in a pair of ears and they were worth like 5 bucks, but this was a long time ago. I think that they decimated the turkey and hurt the deer populations.

Now there are turkey and deer EVERYWHERE....so maybe there are fewer coyotes. I dunno.

Thanks guys. The gun is a Remington R-25 (it's actually made by DPMS) chambered in a .243 win. It does the job nicely.

Sportsnut,

I have no idea how much land we have access to. I know the topographical bounderies but I have not thought about how many square mile it is. It's a lot though. The best part is there's no one out there.

Just curious, as we do not have any coyote's here in FL - What's the purpose of hunting coyotes? Can/do you eat them? Is it strictly for sport? Population control?

What part of FL do you live in? We have plenty of them here in north central FL. Coyotes killed 7 of our chickens one night. You can go out about 10 p.m. and hear them start yipping and calling to each other. I see them hit by cars pretty often on the road I live on.

They know I look for them so they stay the hell away from our yard now. After the killed our chickens I wanted blood...BAD! They wised up real fast and stayed away.

I'n FL coyotes are nocturnal so maybe thats why you dont see them.

kuanomar...love that R-25. I is on my wish list. I use a Remington 700VS .22-250 (longest kill to date is 320yds). I think I've gotten to where I enjoy calling coyotes as much as deer hunting.

2tonyb,

Thank you. If I could make a suggestion, go with the DPMS. It's the same gun sans coating and it costs about $300 less. Although, Remington's customer service has been great in my opinion. That in itself may be worth the extra dough. 320 yards is a great shot on a coyote, especially without a rest. I made my longest shot earlier this year during a coyote derby. It was about 350 yards up hill with no rest. I was shooting the .257 weatherby magnum (my favorite coyote round). There's something very rewarding hearing the death "thud" when you hit a flesh from a long ways out.

The R-25's do shoot nice though. On Sunday I shot a 3/4 inch groupout the back of my truck when it was breezy and raining. I'm sure with handloads and ideal conditions it could do better than that.

Just saw this in the local paper...

Coyote Attack

The Alachua County Health Department is searching for a child who may have been attacked by a coyote last week in southwest Gainesville and could need follow-up medical treatment.

Officials received an unconfirmed report last week, made to both the Alachua County Sheriff's Office and the Gainesville Police Department, that a boy had been attacked by a wild canine, either a wolf or a fox, in the 3700 to 5100 blocks of Southwest 13th Street during the evening of Nov. 17.

Since then, no one has been able to contact the person who made the report or verify that a child was treated at an area hospital for such an attack, said the agency's Environmental Health Director Anthony Dennis.

When officials went to the area, they found a dead coyote, which the reporting person could have mistaken for a wolf or fox, Dennis said. The animal's body was tested for disease at a Jacksonville lab. But those tests came back unsatisfactory, meaning they could not determine if it had rabies.

"At this point, we can't assume the results were negative. We have to assume the results were positive," Dennis said. "We hope if this did occur as it was reported, the person sought emergency medical care. Unfortunately, we could not verify that."

Officials are hoping by putting out information about the report they can ensure that, if a boy was attacked, the child is receiving proper medical attention. That would include being treated to prevent rabies infection.

Rabies is a viral disease transmitted through the saliva of an infected mammal. If untreated, it can be deadly, according to the health department.

The person who reported the incident said that the boy, listed as a 12-year-old, was bicycling in the area when he was attacked. He fought back and supposedly killed the animal by hitting it in the head with a brick.

Dennis said attempts were made to contact the caller and confirm the report without success.

However, due to the nature of the report, officials are proceeding as if the incident had been verified.

If confirmed, officials said this would be an unusual example of coyote attack. While not unheard of, there are few reports compared to the number of coyotes and reported sightings.

"This type of incident is the anomaly, and people should see it as it is," said Alachua County Animal Services Director David Flagler. "Coyotes tend to shy away from humans." Both Dennis and Flagler noted that animals that are sick may approach people or attack, behaving in a manner unlike their healthy counterparts.

A Canadian woman died last month when she was attacked by two coyotes while hiking alone in eastern Canada on a trail in Nova Scotia, the Associated Press reported. Wildlife officials contacted in that case also noted such attacks are "extremely rare."

Earlier this year, a woman in an area north of Tampa was scratched by a coyote when it went for a dog and she got between the animals, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Locally, residents have reported coyote sightings and believe the animals are responsible for some pet and farm animal disappearances.

Anyone with information about this incident or similar events along the Southwest 13th Street area is asked to contact Dennis at (352)258-0257.

One of my favorite critters to hunt. I use a Savage in 204 cal. Longest shot/kill was 321 yards on a sleeping yelp-er on the side of a ridge...never knew what hit it.

My biggest surprise with coyotes was when I was driving our RTV with my son Mike to head back to a blind for coyote hunting. We came over a hill and almost hit 7 dogs sleeping in a pack. Mike had the gun and dogs were running everywhere with shots ringing out all over. It was like flushing a covey of quail, but on the ground...which one do you aim at...all of them... LOL. They all got away but that was something.

Dan

Nice story Dan, sounds like a lot of fun.

Stump Buster, thanks for the pictures. I really like the way that rifle looks, found out my friend has one, going to have to check his out to get a feel for it. Beautiful country as well!

I finally got some time off for the holidays at the end of this week. Yote hunting is my favorite past time. I will send pictures if I am successful or not. I got some new gear and I hope to give reports on it as well. I need to get a small SY for retrieving pelts. The one I currently use is a great shape but could use some improvements. Thanks for starting this post and I enjoy your hunting stories Dan. I knew there was a reason I liked this group (other than an obsession with steel).

I live is East central FL - South and East of the Orlando area...I have never heard of any coyotes around this area or over near Tampa when I lived there. Interesting to know that they do exist in FL though. Thanks.

Yes Doggs, it's that time of year again:)

REZ HOGG for hunting...It also double as my bug out truck.

First 'yote of the season taken at 300 yards with my "quarter-boar" (quarter-bore = .25 caliber). Notice how well that dog blends with the brush.

It's gonna be good year. We hope to win another tournament this year.

Awesome Shot Omar, it's getting around time for those pelts to be worth something right?

Anyone know of 'yote country in Colorado? I would love to do some hunting with my .308 now that she's scoped.

Dan,

What type of hunting do you do? Do you call them, road hunt, set-up in high traffic areas, bait or hike?

I've been learning how to use the foxpro fury. Last week, the fury worked wonders.

Nice shootin Omar.
Thier coats sure do blend in good.
They pretty much have to be moving to spot them.
I've never spotted a stationary yote anyway.
Good luck on the tourney.

Taken this morning.

We called in a few earlier in the morning using coyote vocals (challenge calls and barks). It was the weirdest thing, it seemed those big males wanted a fight.

This one, my cousin shot at close range.

For a varmint rifle, the DPMS/Remington (as pictured in a previous post in this thread) chambered in the .243 win is a tough combo to beat. I have been hunting with the R-25 in .243 and a Rem. 700 CDL SF .257 weatherby mag. They are both fast, hard hitting (for coyote size animals) rounds with mild recoil. While the R-25 is not a "Tier One" rifle, it serves well for predator hunting. I can shoot under an inch with most rounds and consistently close to 1/2 an inch with the hornady v-max 58 grainers. That being said, I have seldom used the follow up shot that using a semi-auto rifle affords. So, the Remington 700 gets grabbed more this year on my hunts. A single shot cooper would be an excellent way to go too. I've heard that they shoot in one hole at a hundred with the right loads and skilled rifleman.

K, that is my delima as you pointed out. Here in OK a 243 is a great all around cartrdige from whitetail, yote, badger, and about all except Big Foot. I figure that a R25/DPMS with optics and mount will be a bit cheaper than the the Cooper and rings but the urge to get seveal mags will close price gap. Then I have to do glass, another small fortune in itself. Hmm, maybe a heavy brl Handy Rifle LOL.

I couldn't be more jealous if I tried too.

These Coyotes are thick as thieves here in Wisconsin too. They live all around us. We have hundereds of acres of corn in the summer all around us and they move in to feed on all the rodents...which is ok. I hate mice.

We have about 30 chickens we use for eggs on our farm and I say about because the "Yotes" are calling all night and when I do a count or notice a favorite laying hen missing I see they have come again.

We see them running down the road we live on without a care in the world.
We have some Red Fox population as well so I can't be too sure whose doing all the chicken hunting. But at night..... Woop woop woooowowwww for hours.

Wish I had more than a plinking pistol then I'd hide outside at night and kill anything that crossed our fence.

I'm a wanta/need to be Coyote hunter.

I run a dog park on 12 acres in North Georgia. They are giving me some big problems: killed my neighbors dog (got it from us as a pup), starting to show up in the park even during the day, killing off all the smaller game.... They are all over here although most people do not know it since they are nocturnal. I got a call in the middle of the night yelling at me... " ARE YOU DEAF! HOW CAN YOU SLEEP WITH ALL YOUR DOGS BARKING?"... "I'm sorry maam but my dogs are all in the house and not making a sound. What you hear are the local coyotes." "THERE ARE NO COYOTES AROUND HERE, YOU MUST THINK I'M STUPID" click.

A guy I know north of me was having major problems and got a permit to trap them. He was at 48 last I heard, in one season. Since in our area the wolf population was eradicated long ago the coyotes have no natural predator.

I am afraid to fire a larger caliber rifle here, even though I am in AG1. I have been looking at 17 HMR's, as I know that load will not get out of the creek valley I would be firing into. There are houses within say 1/4 mile through the woods. All my cop buddies say, "shoot them, PLEASE! shoot them." The DNR says.."shoot them PLEASE shoot them!"....

They are getting very bold, maybe when my Scarpizashi gets here, if I'm veeerwy, veeerwy quiet.....

Mick, SURE they have natural predators, US! Shoot them, trap them, Poison them (IF you can do it safely). 'Yotes are getting troublesome all over the place. One grabbed a dog that belonged to one of our deputies right off the front porch. Lucky for the dog the deputy started yelling when he heard the dog "Crying' and the Coyote dropped him.

good luck with your problem. Oh have you or CAN you use a shotgun, considering the closeness of houses?

Hi SkunkHunter,
Thanks for the reply to my post. I was thinking the 17HMR, being quieter, might have less chance of waking people up. I have been giving a shotgun some thought too though. I was checking out the Benelli's on the internet just last night. A police officer I know from K9 training dispatched one with a shotgun not long ago. He said they were required to use the scatter guns. I have a deck over looking an area that I think I can call them into... a buddy, with a Benelli, and several rifles who is itching to help. The field I would call them to has a light on a telephone pole so I may be able to see well enough to make a shot.

Another K9 guy, who's dog works here on ocassion, told me that the city ordinances allow me to fire guns on my property. I'm sure there are conditions though.

Noise CAN e a problem. Talk to your nieghbors. Discuss the coyote problem with them and tell them your plans (with the PD's blessings) and IF you do try and let them know which nights (if possible) you will be setting up. IF they are also having Yote problems they will probably be receptive to your approach, working with the police and INFORMING they of your intentions.

Weapons to use? IF you have a good area that will take care of any missed shots or ricochets go ahead and use a varmint round (the 17 would seem to be good for this) but be extra careful to take your shots with the thought that ANY shot could do astray and shoot accordingly.

I know this sounds really PC, but sometimes there is no choice.

Hope this helps you with Your Yote problem and gets the Neighbors on YOUR side.

PRESENT IT TO THEM AS A PUBLIC SERVICE!

You may consider a .410 Bore shotgun if you're concerned about noise, Mick. It's MUCH quieter than a 12 guage, especially with a longer barrel, and I'm sure it has the knockdown power you'd need for 'Yotes. They even have a few really nice semi-auto platforms out now. I've been eyeballing the .410 Bore AK shotguns myself recently, although a Saiga 12 guage suits me much better.

I'm no expert, but in my area, as long as you are outside of city limits, on private property with permission, or public land, and are not firing in the direction of other houses/have an adequate backstop, you're allowed to fire any caliber. The rules change a bit with huge calibers that can reach out and touch someone, same rules apply, but as a shooter I'd still be responsible if my .50 BMG (hypothetically ) went through the wall of my nieghbors house 2 miles away. I didn't think sound was a concern unless you're within a quarter mile of another home, during daylight hours.

If you're firing after people are asleep, you may seriously consider a supressor for an existing weapon in your collection, if your state will allow you to posess one. The prices are actually fairly reasonable nowadays, less than 1000$ for most that I've seen, plus the tax stamp. They've got cans for .22s that are as cheap as 180$ apiece that offer great performance. It's a lot of paperwork though, unfortunately.

A couple of things that I would do:

-research major paths of travel by looking for tracks, poop, etc.
-Pre-range potential shots from your stand. That would help you determine what would be a reasonable/safe shot based on distance, backstop and cartridge. It also saves time when when the action starts.
-Use bait (a bag of dogfood should work but, if you bait, sometimes it takes a few days for the coyotes to hit consistently) or a call/decoy set-up to direct traffic into your hunting area.
-a fox pro call is very effective. It's what I use in the field. Make sure that you pre-program a "hurt coyote" sound to switch to in case the 'yotes start to run. It usually gets them to stop long enough for a shot.
-If these coyotes are bold enough to go into peoples yards, they may respond calls that mimick domestic cats/kittens, domestic dog/puppies, chickens or other animals that might be found close to houses.

Mick, the 17 HMR is the ticket while calling them in. K's advice is spot on with the kitten call.

Thanks for all the good suggestions.

I do not have a rifle or shotgun yet and I don't think the Glock 19 is suitable. I have been sweating over buying either a shotgun or 17 HMR for some time. Lately I have been leaning toward the shotgun as maybe the better tool for home protection, but with 6-7 German Shepherds around the house I don't think anyone will be sneaking up on us.

For me the issue with a 17 HMR is, the need for accuracy suggests use of optics, then there is the question of a laser or night vision. It gets a little complicated and expensive.

I think I will talk to a responsible party at the PD before setting up to hunt those coyotes.

I've got a .17 HMR Savage with the Accutrigger. Never shot a coyote with it, but it's downright deadly on crows. They just disappear in a puff of black feathers! I can put 5 shots inside a dime size circle at 50 yards, so it's definately accurate enough. I'd imagine a head shot would be prefered, not sure how the ballistic tips would hold up on a broadside shot.

I am in Grant County. Been coyote hunting many times in my life. Has been a long long while though.

My Uncle and Cousin are always looking for Coyote pelts for their coats.

Coyote is one of the few furs that won't ice up from your breath in extreme cold weather.

I have had many friends loose dogs to packs of coyote's. And not just little dogs either.

German Shepard's and hound dogs will loose to a pack of coyote's when they the pack numbers get bigger.

Quite a while ago, I had a farmer call us out to his farm. We normally do population control on his rock chucks.

He lost two dogs in a week to coyote's. Then he heard a ruckus in the back yard at dusk. A pack of coyote's had actually "treed" his little grand kids and were in a mass under the swing set slide barking and nipping at the crying grand kids. He grabbed his gun, and took a few shots to chase them off. Scared the crap out of him, because his grand kids were little enough to be killed by the coyotes.

The dog that our neighbors lost was half GSD and half Beauceron (large french working dog). A tough dog that other dogs and people generally left alone. He had been chasing coyotes on early morning walks with his owner. The night he died he got through an 8 gauge chain link fence gate, around 50 lbs, wired closed. Then he got over two 5' fences. He was apparently after the pack that roams the valley at night. I found the body a few days later. There was damage to head and hind quarters. He had retreated into a hard to reach area, where he could protect his rear, but apparently died of his wounds there.

Another neighbor was walking with his, very large, GSD in the woods in the same area in the late PM. A pack of Coyotes went after the dog. Classic case of one or two animals trying to keep the dog occupied while the others did their best to "hamstring" the dog from the rear. The dog survived the wounds to his hind quarters, with the help of his human master.

SO FAR around here it isn't that bad, yet. But I hear them every night when I take out dog out before I come to work. They are getting closer to town all the time. I have had a couple regular dogs come into our yard possibly after Penny but when I get up and get aggressive toward them they leave. I don't go out with her, EVER, without a knife and have actually stood between her and another dog twice, they backed down.

Luckily, most canids, unless they're very sick or very very hungry, think twice when confronted with a fully grown human male. I'm sure the prospect of going one on one with you changed thier minds Randy. It stinks that we can't be there every moment of every day to step in though.

BFT,

Wow, that's scary. I'm with ECF. I'd take care of those 'yotes ASAP.

The funny thing, we went out there every morning very early for a while. We only saw one from about 500 yards running flat out. He must have spotted us or smelled us up on the hay stack.

Actually, one of the reasons that the coyotes might have gotten to be a real problem right there was that we were shooting tons of rock chucks. This guy had a real problem with them in his pastures, and had never done any population control. For a while, there was a real supply of food for the coyotes from us killing the chucks. It was an odd area for the chucks because there was not a huge rock pile, just some large sheets of stone that in spots that they had burrowed under. It meant that when we caught them out in the field eating in the mornings, they did not fall down in the rock piles when shot. So there was a nice meal just laying out for the coyotes.

It is not that bad these days

Once(this was about 6 years before the incident in the farmers back yard), when I was over night at a friends house for his birthday (really young then), their dogs were barking at something in the yard. Then it sounded like a hell of a fight.

He had a hound dog mut, a smaller mut, and a German Shepard.

Only the German Shepard and the smaller mut made it back to the house (this was about 30 miles out in the country, no neighbors for quite a ways).

Early the next morning we went out and just found a bunch of blood and fur, never found the rest of the hound dog. Just the dog tracks and tons of coyote tracks, and a bunch of blood and fur. We had our rifles, but did not find any of the coyotes. They were probably napping, after having a big meal of hound dog.

Well I saw a rifle today that may hold some promise. A Savage that has a older Simmons Aetec scope that has been home camoed. The thing does not have an accu=trigger but it is in .243 Win. May do some reading to see if the triggers can be spruced up.

Sumo,

Those Simmons Aetec scopes are great scopes for the money. Heck, they're great scopes period. It's hard to go wrong with a Savage in a .243 Win. That package sounds like the ticket.

Sumo,

With a bit of google foo, you can find drop-in triggers, trigger-jobs and smiths who will install an accu-trigger in your rifle. An accutrigger is about 125.00 installed.

FYI

K, thanks. I did a little reading last night and found a trigger called Basix. Now i have to talk myself out of the DPMS Camo rifle in 243 that is sitting on the wall--the scope is some monster from Russia and Nikon would set the cost above what I want to get into it for.

Sumo,

Along with my Remington 700CDL in .257 Weatherby, I hunt with a Remington R-25 in .243 win (It's a re-branded DPMS). It's a PERFECT Coyote gun. With the 58 Gr. Hornady V-Max bullets, it knocks coyotes down with authority. Fast, flat and quick follow-up shots and little recoil. The only downside I can see is the weight. Although, the weight makes watching the "splash" and hits easier because it reduces felt recoil.

Sumo,

The optic is a Bushnell Elite 6500 4.5 x 30 x 50. It has mil-dot reticle. I really like that scope. My other scope is a Leupold VXIII with a Big Game Reticle. As far as clarity, they are on par at similar magnification. I rarely use the 30 power on my Bushnell. I have used it to look count points on antlers and at the bench at times to look at holes. Most of the time, I keep it from 6-12 power. So, for the most part, that extra power is not used, but it's nice to have when I need it.

Thanks. I just got back from a hunt a few minutes ago. We called in two big yotes, but my nephew (12 years old) took the shot and missed at 100 yards. They are really vocal this time of year because they are in mating season. Great time to get out there and hunt.
