We did a Jeep run up to Crown King AZ today taking "the back way". The only victim on the way up there was an abandoned 2007 Dodge Truck with a busted drive shaft in the bed. I felt bad for the guy because it was a nice truck and if the weather folks are right, then he is going to be buried in a few feet of snow to boot. We would have tried to pull his truck to a better spot, but he was already gone. Hopefully he knows someone with a tractor.

We took my dad's Jeep (black Rubicon) and my friend took his Sport. He has a 2.5" coil lift, my dad's Jeep has OME heavy duty coils (about 2.75" of lift) and OME shocks. We were both disconnected on the front.

Here are some pics.

Haven't been out since October in it

Nice pictures by the way

I love Crown King...it is one of Arizona's best kept secrets.
The "back way" is "tough", looks like you had a blast though.
Nice views of Lake Pleasant <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Did you stop by Horse Thief Lake?
Thanks for the pics.

Unfortunately, we did not stop there AZWELKE. The kids were having a good time but they wanted to "get to the top".

Crown King is a great secret. My friend and his wife run that ranch in Bumble Bee going up the front way to CK. I always stop by and see him when I do a run up there.

I wanted to take some knife pics but between my boys and my friends daughter, the kids ran the show.

Although I have a good Toyota Tacoma I hunt in, I will show my ignorance. What does it mean "the fronts are disconnected"?

Sway bar is disconnected. Give a bit more articulation on the trails.

I'm lucky we have some great trails minutes from the house. They have a few great places in the Southern States. Most are pay to play though. I think about 80% of this state is public lands.

MonkeyBomb nailed it. Disconnects are an inexpensive way to improve the front axe's ability of a vehicle to get over rocks and other harsh terrain. My avatar is a pic of my front axle being disconnected. If I had my swaybar connected up in that pic, my front axle would have prevented from being at that angle.

You can actually make your own disconnects pretty easily as well to save cash. I use JKS disconnects, they were about $125 and have zerk fittings so you can grease them up to minimize squeaks when they are all connected up.

Tacoma's a great vehicles. I will probably get one at some point since I really need a truck. I miss my trucks, they are so versatile.
