Yote, do you have any experience with Enfield Carbines, the Jungle No.5?
my first hunting rifle was an enfield.
My brother foolishly sold his jungle No. 5 for $75 a few years ago
Dang, that was a good price for someone. I will be getting one soon in a trade. I want to see how she does with various ammo, I have the following so far: a little South African, a little Canadian WWII, a little Winchester from the early 80's left over from a Canadian contract, a little British WWII, a lot of reloadable Greek, and a few rds of soft point. I do have the dies to reload, so some lead powder puff loads might be in the future.

Do you see the Jungle Carbine bayonets up your way?
i will keep an eye out for you
i used my enfields for hunting so i always used imperial ammunition

Yote, Remington was a figment of an actors imagination where he wanted a more important role. What a waste. Have your read the book? I did when I was a kid. Probably one of the reasons Africa is on my bucket list. That, and talking to several Rhodesian soldiers/mercs from their time their.
Never read the book, but i have read up on the lions and the real story
Of you make it to Chicago go and see them. They are not as menacing in life as they are in the movie. Actually the lions in Tsavo are mainless. Go figure. I guess for the movie they wanted a more fearsome animal. Not taking away from the two lions, they were something unbelievable in the way they did things. There are bronze statues around the lions too, they give a unique feeling to the area.

I know it sounds stupid, but I never really thought about how BIG lions really are, specially some of the Males.
Truly man eater beasts. Look at one in a zoo sometime, they are generally a bit bigger unless they were cuaght in the wild----better diets and all but wild ones, are well wild!

The first gun I can ever remember firing is a 20 gauge single shot with the external hammer. When I got to finally hunt with it alone I had to put the stock between my legs and use both thumbs to [censored] it! I was somewhere between 10 and 12. I know I got to shoot it at 10 but not 100 percent sure when they turned me loose with it by myself.
i was 3 or 4 when my uncle gave me my first firearm a kessler bolt action 20 gauge. i think i was 10 or 11 when i first shot it, i still have it and it is not for sale

I can't remember the first gun I ever shot. There were so many over the years, but it probably was my dad's Remington 552 Speedmaster. First gun I ever owned was a cheap 20 gauge. Still have it.

My first hunting (deer) was a Remington model 31 16 gauge pump.

My first hunting RIFLE was a Winchester 30.30 my Dad bought me for my Birthday when I was 15.
my first enfield was of ww 1 vintage and weighed a ton, it would kill me today to carry it hunting
The No.1 was my favorite until I lost partial use of my dominant eye--the pep sights on the No.4 make the difference. With My No.4 MkII* I can hit a 12" diameter at 400 yds with some difficulty. That is a testament to the rifle and sights, and good ammo.

I would appreciate that. I want a bayonet for this rifle since it is supposed to have one, and it is another piece of steel LOL.

Both males and females are maneless.

from what i understand in that area, the male lions are virtually maneless, the theory is that they evolved this way due to the thick thorn bush in the area
they used to think man eating lions of this type where unique however they are finding that some lions specialize in hunting along the refugee trails

Yote has it right. IIRC the lions were credited with over a 135 kills but in reality who knows.........maybe more, maybe less. The thing about these two is that it was like they did it for fun, hunt, not just for food.

I think my 3rd 22 was the Speedmaster, I still have it as well.

I know this is going to sound strange, but my favorite long arm is a bolt action .410 with a magazine tube under the barrel like a 22! It's I think a savage arms and My dad paid $15.00 for it (could have got it for 10). Course it was an illegal confiscated gun (barrel was about 14 inches) and he brazed some pipe and later a hollow THICK walled brass tube onto it bringing it to about 18.5 to 19 inches long. It's a blast to shoot.
