I thought it was a good movie as well. You mean the movie makers added something that never existed in real life! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Yote, Remington was a figment of an actors imagination where he wanted a more important role. What a waste. Have your read the book? I did when I was a kid. Probably one of the reasons Africa is on my bucket list. That, and talking to several Rhodesian soldiers/mercs from their time their.

My first hunting (deer) was a Remington model 31 16 gauge pump.

My first hunting RIFLE was a Winchester 30.30 my Dad bought me for my Birthday when I was 15.

I know it sounds stupid, but I never really thought about how BIG lions really are, specially some of the Males.

my first enfield was of ww 1 vintage and weighed a ton, it would kill me today to carry it hunting

Yote, do you have any experience with Enfield Carbines, the Jungle No.5?
my first hunting rifle was an enfield.
My brother foolishly sold his jungle No. 5 for $75 a few years ago
Dang, that was a good price for someone. I will be getting one soon in a trade. I want to see how she does with various ammo, I have the following so far: a little South African, a little Canadian WWII, a little Winchester from the early 80's left over from a Canadian contract, a little British WWII, a lot of reloadable Greek, and a few rds of soft point. I do have the dies to reload, so some lead powder puff loads might be in the future.

Do you see the Jungle Carbine bayonets up your way?

That is awesome. I was into Enfields pretty heavy back in the early to mid 90's. Then for some reason I got away from them. I have the South African Long Branch from WWII and African continent, I love it and will have the Jungle very soon.

The first gun I can ever remember firing is a 20 gauge single shot with the external hammer. When I got to finally hunt with it alone I had to put the stock between my legs and use both thumbs to [censored] it! I was somewhere between 10 and 12. I know I got to shoot it at 10 but not 100 percent sure when they turned me loose with it by myself.
