Woke up Sunday and the German fog/gray skies had gone away, so me and a friend went to the Black Forest. Here's what we saw. Sorry, all my blades are illegal to carry here in Germany so there won't be any knife pron.

Fall is here.

Uhm... A path.

The path up the mountain weaves back and forth over the falls which are the biggest in Germany. Just when you think there can't be anymore cascades, you run into another set.

Fall again.

My trekking companion for the day in front of the biggest cuckoo clock in the world. She is a sailor here on leave.

The view of Triberg from about halfway up the falls.

Hope you enjoy the photos. I enjoyed taking in the German country side and taking the pics. I love this place.

Just curious, what kind of blades alre illegal up there? I.e. you may not give up a fixed blade on the woods? Thanks, ciao Alfredo

Thanks, guys.

Michelangelo, you can bring a fixed blade into the woods. I think the legal limit for a carry is 3.5 inches, but if it is a single hand opener it is illegal unless it is a multi-tool. You can carry bigger but only if it is considered a tool. The Swamp Rat and Scrap Yard I have are not considered tools here since they are weapons. I have a SR Ratchute Mandu which is considered a weapon since it has a double edge and my SY Regulator has been modded into a bayonet, obviously a weapon.

JJ, thanks for the great pictures. I regret never getting to Europe in my 20 year stint. Plus like an idiot I didn't take any pictures to speak of in the Philippines, Korea or Japan. I used to go SEVERAL miles out into the countryside on a bicycle in Japan and saw some beautiful scenery, but alas it is now only in my mind.

Dman62, Welcome to the YARD. The best group of knife nuts in the world call this place home. They are friendly, helpful, entertaining and educational. We like to have fun and also get serious. Be sure and read the rules and regulations threads as this is most importantly, a FAMILY, read the General audience Site.

So just chime right in and enjoy along with the rest of us.

Great shots, JJ! I was out around the Zugspitze this Sunday. I was scouting for a place to snap some shots of my SOD. No luck, too many people around. I have only been collecting Bussekin for 2 1/2 months and none of my 5 knives are legal to carry. As far as I have been told 10cm is the maximum for a fixed blade. That's just shy of 4 inches.

Here in Italy there is not a blade measure that make a knife legal or illegal. What matter is only the context: if you are on the woods, you may carry a 10" blade if you want, but if you are on i.e. a soccer stadium even a 2" blade forlder could be considered illegal.
Otherwise, all the knife with a double edge (a dagger, for example) are considered as a weapons, so you need a special permission to had and carry it out.

Similar to what Michelangelo said above, it is not illegal here to carry an SOD on a camping trip in Germany, since it can be justified as having a purpose. Carrying one into a tourism area of a park would be an issue though. But mine can't be justified at all, double edge and bayonet.

Sounds like you need a Scrapivore then?

JJ, get in on some of the smaller blades like the Scrapivore, the Mud Puppy, Rat Warden (if still available), etc. Great items and should fit your situation perfectly.
