How do you think the TK50 will be? Videos I was of it showed a good long throw but didn't seem like it had a lot of spill light. I REALLY like the run times on it and the "spotlight like throw" as well but think some spillage would be needed. Oh and What Sig is that in your avatar?

I have a Fenix PD30 XPG 265 lumens, takes two cr123A, with pocket clip that cost me only about $50 delivered from that site that shall not be named. It is an incredible value. I have an older PD20 that is 165 lumens (new ones are about 180) and uses 1 CR123A and is also about $50. The PD20 is perfect EDC in the pocket. Actually my wife stole it, so I may have to get another. The PD30 you can EDC also, but I use that for camping.

HUM.... I think I am going to look into replacing my Maratec AAA. I just found a Photon Proton pro led that looks sort of tempting. I was on that battery place and they also have the ITP lights like I am looking as for as well as fenix. Boy oh boy, Fenix, itp or photon...... any favorites by anyone in single aa or aaa size lights with 2 or 3 brightness levels?

I Like the cr123 lights but just think I would rather stick with the smaller size ones I can get anywhere from 2-4 good aa or aaa batteries for the price of 1 cr123. plus the 123 lights are bigger in diameter that I want to pack around in my pocket.

Some of the earlier Fenix lights had problems - I bought quite a few L2T lights and have had a 60% failure rate (3 out of 5). The L2T were a problematic light - so this isn't indicative of all Fenix lights - just this model.

Plus 1 dead E01 (out of 4), but, the E01 was probably killed from reverse polarity (not by me...).

And I own a P1D. My P1D has lasted several years of good use problem free.

Their later lights don't have the same problems as the L2T and from most reports are rock solid. I still recommend Fenix to others.

SkunkHunter, have you looked at the LumaPower Incendio V3+? It uses 1 x CR123 and pushes out up to 350 lumens. It even has a forward tactical clicky. Dimensions (L X D): 3" x 0.85" (77 x 21.5 mm). Which is what I'd consider quite small.

batteryjunction.com usually has them in stock (and is an excellent shop for torches and batteries in general).

Have you considered rechargeable li-ion batteries? Rechargeable cr123 will give you much better value than AA or AAA (either alkaline or nimh), and since they are li-ion they have a much higher energy density.

Harlequinn, thank you for ALL the suggestions and the information. I have thought about li batteries. But For me I think that I will just probably stick with I am used to, a 1aaa in the pocket, MAYBE an aa and a full size light.

I have been looking at the ITP aa and aaa lights and also their Polar A6. We have a slew of rechargeable aa batts for one of Patty's older cameras so that is one of my reasons. The aaa I carry now is a maratec 1aaa with 3 outputs and it works nice for me although at times I do wish the higher side was a bit brighter. so the 3 mode itp with 96 lumens might be just the ticket.

BUT I will check out the light you recommended.

Thank You

Randy
