Leatherface,
What did you use to finish the leather on my sheath? I cannot tell if it is a wax or an oil. Whatever it is, I like it a lot.
I wanna be sure that when the time comes, I refinish it in the same manner.

Roo,
It is sort of both...I use 3 different sealants on my outdoor's sheaths...

A light coat of Neat-LAc x 2 if needed

2 coats of Tan-kote

1 heavy coat of my homebrew mix...The final coating is what gives it the deep luster that you are seeing and I use it on all of the sheaths and holsters that I make for myself..Works like charm

If it needs it, all I would recommend is using a light coating of neutral kiwi to keep it in shape OR some beeswax...

BUT...If you need it to be treated, just send it back to me (include return shipping $$$) and I will treat it for ya free..hows that?

Dave,
That is a very nice offer. From the looks of the sheath, it will definitely hold up to years of use.
You really do put a handsome finish on what is intended to be a using sheath, for a using knife. When my wife first laid eyes on it, her words were, paraphrased, "you ain't gonna f__k that up, are you?"
Well, it's going to see the bad outdoors, but I think it will take a bit of a beating before I send it back your way.

Question for Dave or anyone "in the know"... is Flitz gun/rifle wax (contains beeswax) a "safe" option to treat leather sheaths?

Thanks Klink.

Roo...That is what it is for...To be used..lol..Just dont store the knife in it

jaisland...I dont "know" if that will work...I depends on the emulsifier and how thin the mix is...I dont see why it wouldnt work if it were applied very lightly...Just apply a small amount of wax (after you wipe off the sheath or holster with a warm damp cloth..LET IT DRY!) and buff it off...Let it dry completely before use (12 hours should do it)
