Hi Ya'll,

Just wanted to let you know that I am the Proud Mom. Our "Little Dude" (he just turned 10) went on his second deer hunting trip and got a button-buck. It dressed out at a little over 100 lbs. I am soooo proud.

Congratulations... Hunting is good for kids, it builds character and teaches them responsibility.

Patti,
Your 10 year old got a deer?? I dont think I have even seen a BIRD while I was out hunting!

Congrats..I agree that hunting is a good thing for kids to do...Wish I could do as much now as I did then!

Congrats !

I saw a great bumper sticker last week (normally I hate stickers on cars...) sticker read:

"Kids who hunt, fish and trap don't mug little old ladies"

Great way to raise great kids.

Pics? Any special knives used for the skinning? I went deer hunting from when I was 12 until I was 17 and never did get one. My Dad never has either. There’s not that many here. Too many fields and not enough woods. After I was 18, I couldn’t get the cheap youth license anymore, so I quit trying. I didn’t want to pay $20-$30 for a deer license when I knew I probably won’t get one anyway. Then later we lost access to our neighbors land where we hunted, and I never found another spot to go to. I haven’t gone hunting since.

What is he hunting with? That's outstanding, a truely memorable experience for everyone involved! So far for my 3 year old it has only been a field rat...dressed out to 6 oz.......

It's great to hear that your son is a hunter! Now that he has gotten his deer, he will be forever proud and remember his first. Congratulations! You have a right to be proud, that is quite an accomplishment for a 10 year old. Well done.
