Looking for fixed blade knife to carry while deer hunting. Anyone out there use this knife in the field. Looking for something to do some very light chopping with, such as briers and small branches, but stout enough to split the pelvis bone of a deer. Been using a Becker Necker for several years to dress and skin with and a really like it, but would also like something a little stouter to go with it. Been using my HI Ang Khola for the heavy stuff, but it is a little to heavy to carry every time I go out.

Kirk - Howdy and Welcome to the Scrap Yard ! I have used a Buck Vanguard for dressing out deer and it worked quite well. I have not used my Scrapper 6 from the Yard yet, but I'm sure it would work well for you, especially in the chopping arena. It is a VERY substantial knife for its size. Tom

I think you'd be very pleased with a Scrapper. Welcome to the Yard!

Welcome to the Yard. Dan used the Scrapper 6 to gut, clean and split the pelvis of the deer our 10 year old, (Mike) got a couple of weeks ago. As you all know, with Dan, it is all about function and performance. Dan believes it is ideal for deer, but a bit on the large size for squirel.

Thanks. Looks like a good fit. Like the looks of the knife and the price. Always looking for affordable and functional tools.
