the whole magazine thing just kept coming up and that's what slowed me down from going from my fsn to the AR. milled AK seemed to be the next best thing...

I am not a fan of the older glocks either but it looks like the 4th gen are leaps and bounds better of course only because they reversed the tables and copied the XDs and M&Ps now I think any of them would be a great choice.

1st and second gen glocks are great. 3rd gen the 40 was hot or miss. 4th gen has been troubles. I think thye finally got them lined out. I wouldn't knowingly use an early 4th gen that wasn't heavily used without knowing all the recalls and upgrades were done.

When I retired from the AF and came back here I started working for the Sheriff's office. At that time our Chief dispatcher's husband was a cop in my home town. I of course got to know him pretty well. MANY times before I got on my Hometowns PD he would come by and get me to go with him as his backup. Now this is over the other officers in the PD. (It actually made me feel pretty good that he trusted me that much).
Anyway, about 1997 he died of a Brain aneurism. His wife fell apart, wound up quitting LE and left the our part of the country. ANYWAY, before she left she asked me to buy his Glock 17. I am not sure how long he had it but he did tell me once that he had had it for many years. Don't know if it means anything, but the SN starts with US---

my next purchase will either be a fnx9 or a m&p9. whatever i choose will be my go to firearm and what I will probably carry once I get my ccw. im leaning towards the fnx since I prefer a hammer and it functions like my fnp45. but also considering the m&p since I really like my sheild and I don't think it would hurt to have both of my carry options function the exact same way.

With the US in the serial number it was made after 94. Probably a pretty solid pistol.
I like the M&P's without out the magazine safety and tunb safety. I don't care for the FN pistols.

They are ugly, uncomfortable and have no personality. But as a tool they are hard to beat. The ones I have been issued have been accurate and extremley reliable.
