Here it is while it's still pretty. That's a new David Farmer along for the walk.

Obligatory fuzz sticks...the War Dog gets the nod here...

Checking out the tips...generally they are a wash, but I'm reminded how nice the mudders are...

[Linked Image from i432.photobucket.com]

Lets make big wood into smaller wood...thought the 411 batonned better and might have chopped the finger sized stuff better as well- I think due to the mudders again.

With these notches it was no contest, the War Dog was vastly superior and easier to manage.

Pile 'o' stuff with my favorite chopper, the lovely Battle Rat.

So what does this tell me? Another great, tough, performance to price knife from Dan! I had started off fishing and used the 411 to dig and cut myself a digging stick and I remember thinking "It's a brute of a small knife and will do whatever I ask."

With me having sold off a lot my knives to get my firearms, I've missed my Howling Rat and think the 411 will take care of that little hole in my heart! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I'll check it out in the kitchen and see what i think. This was the factory edge by the way. The War Dog is screaming sharp and has the 'edge' <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> there.

Nice one Dan!

Great pics and review buddy !

How does the Wardog handle compare with the Mudder handle, which do you like the best ?

Ps. That Dave Farmer looks great as well, I read recently that he is stopping making knives......that will be a big loss to the custom knife community !

Oh man, I really like that farmer blade Rich. To me, the blade has the perfect curve to it and the handle ain't to shabby either. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

The Farmer is nice too! I am liking the drop point and the handle is fuller than another I had.

Pit, that would blow if he bows out- where did you hear that? I had read he was working a regular job and knife-making was going very part-time for him. Wifey ordered for my b-day with no problem...hummm???

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I can't wait to use the 4-11. Your review confirms my suspicions.

The handle on the Farmer, is that waxed twine? Looks great no matter what it's made of, and thanks for sharing the 411 review

Sorry for the HiJack. It's epoxied HEMP, wrapped around Leather. Good handles.

Yeah maybe not stopping entirely, this is a quote from the man himself:

"That the Freakshow Forge and Knife Shop is going to have to cut back operations.

This economy has left me no choice. There are some obligations that I have to meet, and knifemaking is not providing enough return. I have now gotten a part time job and I am getting ready to get another one.

I will make knives, although it will be at a significantly reduced number. I will not be taking new orders. On future knives, I will only use reclaimed steel (L6 and 1095) and the handle materials I have on hand. There are a few orders in the works, and I will be filling those. Most are nearly completed. I have notified those that I will not be filling their orders.

I want to thank everyone that has helped the Freakshow stay afloat. I couldn't have done it without ya. it has been a good run, but not it is time to crawl for a while."

Did ya see my question about the handles ? I just wondered how the wardog handle compared with the Mudder, I have a Mudder and love it but have not yet tried the Wardog handle !

Very cool comparison. It looks like the wardog has a convex edge while the 411 has a v-edge. I wonder what it would be like if they were the same?
