We have two jails. This one is on full lockdown 24/7. The only time the prisoners come out is to go to court or when they're being released. It's pretty tough.

Yeah but you still have to check on them, feed them, get them their meds and all sorts of other BS reasons.

Yeah, the jailers walk the halls every 30 minutes and sign off that everything is OK. Trustees from the other jail take care of all that other stuff.

There's only about 50 in the jail at any given time. The big jail is usually around 200.

We only have bunks for 35-38 (not exactly sure) but we haven't had that few since I've been here.

We're usually over capacity as well. The sheriff is asking for a new jail (400-500 beds) but the county commissioners aren't buying it.

He says we can use the space and rent extra beds to the Feds and MAKE money with it, but the CC board is being retarded as usual.

Our commissioners have OK'd drawing up plans for an addition to our jail, but haven't heard anything more about it so I don't know if it is actually being done or not. All I know is that we need a MINIMUM of 70 or 80 beds here.

We've got a county adjacent to us that does that. But they also say it is a PITA with all the pampering they have to do with the Federal Prisoners.

Next county over does it. That's where the sheriff got the idea. What's really sad is that our 200 bed jail is co-owned with another county. We built it and the CC decided to sell half a while back to help pay down the debt. Now it's paid for and we're renting space in it from the other county for our prisoners

So it's actually costing us more in the long run. Stupid CC board.
