Wooden Scrapivore sheath(s)!!!! (PICS) - 01/18/12 11:36 AM

So here she is! My first attempt at a sheath. This has given me many more ideas, but this one turned out pretty good. Since the scrapivore is my new EDC I just needed a slim simple sheath that will slip in my pocket and this has been working out great. Its pressure fit and with a little tug will pop out but stays in snugly. I got really lucky getting it on my first run! Gonna make a few more a little more elaborate with more carry options. (Cant wait to make one for the 711!) I tapered it and slimmed it down tonight reducing its profile and sanded and waxed it up smooth and added the hole. Im gonna like it even more now!

Very nice work, I saw a beautiful wooden sheath or a nmfbm on the other forum that was then hand carved.

Very nice indeed!

Some people use rare earth magnets on those, but they have a tendency to attract all kinds of junk fairly quickly.

Re: Wooden Scrapivore sheath! (Pics) - 01/19/12 10:48 AM

Thanks everyone for all the positive feedback! That one is walnut, which is ALOT easier to carve that the burly poplar im using on the next one, it was driving me nuts today.
>And thats very interesting on the magnets, ive been throwing that idea around all day since I read that, it would solve a lot of problems as well as make it much easier to make. I may have a way to keep it clean easily, ill have to experiment. Im very interested in getting into the knife making industry, so I feel if I get these figured out that could open up some doors for me!

One of those would be great for safely protecting your wiener! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Re: Wooden Scrapivore sheath(s)!!!! (PICS) - 02/03/12 08:26 PM

I'm sure that if he sanded it real well and coated the inside of the wooden cond er um sheath, that he may not have to worry about getting splinters in his weiner. The trick would be inserting it real slow and easy. If he tried to jam it in......

Re: Wooden Scrapivore sheath(s)!!!! (PICS) - 02/04/12 03:03 AM

If you did make them for the weiners that would be sweet...especially because youd likely be handling lots of different wieners...while you make sheaths for them that is... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />:D
