Ghost Rider for one, and no not because of the movie....I've was collecting GR 15 years ago. And once in a while I'll pick up some manga (Berserk, anything historical, samurai stuff). And My fav has to Wolverine. Although my ammo habits and knife buying have taken precedance over my comic collecting lately. So I've just become a casual buyer, although I still attend the Motor City Comic Con when it arrives.

Re: Something New at Knob Creek!!!! - 04/14/07 01:45 AM

i had this issue of venom where the symbiot took wolverine as a host. he could just keep feeding and taking from wolverine who just kept healing faster and stronger thanks to the symbiot, it was the mutant+alien equivalent of a perpetual motion machine. they beat it by blowin up some sonic bomb in wolverine's chest, or somethin an he said the verizon dude's line "can you hear me now?"

so lame.

That is, of course, JYD level information. Its seems that some grateful soldiers obtained several thousand pounds of depleted uranium sabot penetrators from spent anti-tank rounds that lodged in one of Sadam's palace walls. This is very dense material, that just barley glows in the dark. Perfect for finding your dropped keys so the knife..... CLASSIFIED JYD .

i heard somethin similar. apparently there was a freak accident in the scrap yard labs facility and some uranium fell into the austenite and contaminated it, creating a nuclear austeninte cementite shock steel that created perfect bands in the grain that could be martenized without creating stress in the blade thus antiquating the tempering process! it doesn't even make contact with the media it cuts, it radiates and separates the matter. never needs to be sharpened and comes in an antimatter sheath. it would be guaranteed beyond doomsday if anyone was still around to use it, or replace it.

The Hell Razor definitely looks cool but I'm not a fan of corrugations in a working knife. A slick smooth flat grind would be my preference but I'd take an HR if someone was to give me one

Thanks for the specs. I just measured my mojo and it has almost exactly a 6' useable blade. Shes a beaut, but the handle is a little thin. Not sure about SR-101 though.

I just quoted the Busse marketing lengths of the knives. The finger choil is usually included in the blade length.

I'm pretty ambivalent about the Mojo handles myself. While I love the HRLM handles, the handles on the Mini Mojo size blade just don't feel quite as good. They're ok but I imagine Res-C would feel a lot better.

Real soon
Me too! One of each, please.

If they're almost free like the DM's were I'll ge both! If I have to choose one, I'll leave the bottle opener off I just use my teeth.

The one with a bottle opener might not fit in a standard tactical sheath. I am tired of ordering knives without sheaths. I hope they have sheaths available when they are offered.

I've got an RD6 sheath sitting here that I thought I was going to use for the DM, (which is too small) - so it may work for the Mojo!

I guess I don't really see the appeal of the mini mojos. A recurve might make sense for certain applications on a big 9"+ blade, but I don't see it as practical on such a short blade.

Based on the great work you do with the belt sander, you should make your own Kydex sheaths. It's relativiely inexpensive to get started and with some basic practice, you can bang out sheaths for your whole collection. This was my main reason for getting the tools to make sheaths, I was tired of not having sheaths for knives. It would have cost me hundreds of dollars to buy sheaths for all of my knives.

I am definitely interested, Jeeps. Got any suggestions as to what to get and where to get it? I am sick of black kydex, too. A little color might be nice for a change.

I find I like a recurved blade as long as it isn't too extreme. The recurve makes the small blade a slightly better chopper and a slightly better slicer. The negative to the recurve is that its a little harder to sharpen, but not terribly so in my experience.

In the Mini Mojo its probably not a feature that makes a huge difference one way or another. IMO, it does add some visual appeal to the blade.

The bigger question is probably whether you need an almost 7" blade in the first place.

Re: Something New at Knob Creek!!!! - 04/14/07 05:17 AM

IMO, 7" blades have a limited use - My USMC and RD7 are strictly for field use w/ the military, and something that I would take w/ me to combat. The Mojo would be in the same boat (and the USMC would be out!)

Edit - I'm saying, too short to chop well, too big to do smaller utility work, but a good size for digging or sticking people.

Maybe it is because I have used 6 and 7 inch blades for so long, but I like them. The first time I ever saw a knife chop down a tree it was a US Navy Ka-Bar in the hands of 12 year old kid. It was a fairly large pine tree, too. A 7" blade can chop, and it is more compact and easier to handle than a 9" or 10" knife.

Hmmm... I guess I'm saying that it isn't ideal for either chopping or small tasks, but if I just had one knife for field use, it would be a 7" blade. On the civilian side, I'd just bring a big ol' chopper and a 5" fixed blade.

Re: Something New at Knob Creek!!!! - 04/14/07 05:33 AM

I just think a 7" recurve would be fine. Lets face it, Dice, you and I have so many damned choices, it is hard to pick just one. I am taking a Condor jungle bowie and a DM on my next trip far into the swamp. If I had to pick just one knife, it would be a 6" or 7" knife. I used to carry Ka-Bar until I got a Kukri.
Posted By: diceman

Re: Something New at Knob Creek!!!! - 04/14/07 05:38 AM

OK, you're right. I still say that to maximize your 7" blade's potential you need to bury it in someone's chest. My RD7 is a fairly lousy chopper, but great field knife.

I have the Swamp Rat Mini Mojo and it FITS the nylon sheath just fine. I'm not sure I will like the MM with a Res-C handle personally. It balances really well with the micarta handles and the Res-C knives seem to have a more forward balance.

as for the 7" knife argument, like all steel, it's a compromise. however, with the advent of the dumpster mutt, you don't have to compromise. easy to carry, short and agile, chops like a big knife, awesome steel, comfy grip...you lose so little.

Re: Something New at Knob Creek!!!! - 04/15/07 12:40 AM

Old joke.

A business man hears about an extremely old Indian Chief who is all knowing and all seeing, and who has the greatest memory in the world.

The business man travels long and far to meet with the Indian chief. He first raises his hand and greets the great chief in the customary fashion 'How' and the great chief replies 'How.'

The business man proceeds to ask questions about how to conduct his new business venture. He is surprised at the wisdom of the great chief, and decides to ask him a question to stump him. The business man asks, 'what did i have for breakfast on April 12 1974 for my 13th birthday?' and the great chief replies 'eggs.'

on that note, the business man leaves.

over the next few years, the business man sees great success but starts to think it was just his own luck and cunning, and that the Indian Chief was just spewing lucky guesses, and that the great chief may just be a bs artist. A decade later the business man decided to set out and test the great chief again.

The business man again travels long and far to meet with the Great Indian chief and greets him in the customary way 'How' to which the Great Indian Chief replies 'Scrambled.'

Is he worried that SOME might prefer a SYKCO to a Busse Combat or Swamp Rat? Surely the Big Hog is secure in his customer loyalty to INFI.

Yes, you'd certainly think that's the case. But I'll still be surprised if Dan announces the release of the SY Mojos until after the Knobganzaaa is over.
Their server is locked up now. Dan could announce that the Mojos will be offered on Monday (48 hr notice) now, and we all could avoid the ganzamania and calmly order Monday night. It would be beautiful.

I have a Big Busse FBM and I am getting a little BATAC. I have one Swamp Rat HRLM. All the rest of my Busses will be Dan Busses. I am rock solid, 100% certain of this.......right now.

I like too many styles to limit myself.....the new Rat Mastiff Chopper is really apealing ....the Proto FBM is absolutly outstanding! And the DFLE will be way too much fun.....then you have all those damned cooky customs that are little gems......too many knives....sooo little time.

hahaha,
That's what you said BEFORE the BATAC!

Gravelface is right.. the next Sexy thing that comes along & Speaks to us.. that "100% certainty" will go right down the drain again!

Dan,
How about right now? after all, I'm here, instead of sleeping.
Seriously, a release tomorrow or monday would be cool. it would warm the hearts of all the mutts who did not get a score at the busse site, or could not afford the offerings.

When Dan didn't announce during the ganza, which would have been fun as hell, I got bored and went to bed. The only Mojos I am really intersted in are the SYs. I could have bought a SR Mojo last week, but ordered the Busse BATAC instead. The only knife in the ganza that I really wanted was the Argonne Assault. It was too expensive.
