Too much politics!

Too much politics! - 01/17/13 10:54 PM

Folks, this is a KNIFE forum, not a political forum! Please try to keep political comments limited to the Death Chat, and keep the other threads knife-related. I'm just as guilty as anyone else, so I will try to "practice what I preach" as well. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Too much politics! - 01/17/13 11:30 PM

Thanks, brother. I don't care to read agenda based content here. I have enough on my plate...and have it all around me in my life. These issues obviously affects us all, and we are a community of brothers, but I come here to escape and learn about knives / fieldcraft / experiences of my brothers....not to debate sensitive topics. Politics can sour the best of relationships.

You cannot silence me! First they come for my guns and now you're coming for my freedom of speech!

You can have my speech when you pry it from my cold dead lips.

uhmm, that came out wrong.

I'll shut up now.

I would say something, but my political rants of years past make all this seem tame. But still, I haven't used my awesome moderator powers in a while. It could be fun. Please, can't we have somebody do a liberal rant?

I'm like JJ, I'll shut up as well. Sorry guys, I was one of the biggest ducks in the puddle.

Re: Too much politics! - 01/18/13 10:35 AM

Thanks PK! I have wanted to say something for awhile. I know I am a minority here (and have said so before). I come here for the comradery not the politics!

I can put up with some stuff and respect opinions but don't need to feel alienated.

Sethrotull, you are correct. And I knew I should stop but I for one just got caught up and... well, once again I apologize to all you folks.

I know how it goes and where most stand on the gun/knife forums I am part of. I am an oddball when it comes to politics and Such. I respect others views I just don't need to feel threatend because of some of mine.

Thanks to everyone who is a huge support here.

I live in a great state. We have great knife laws (benchmade, kershaw, gerber, leatherman, ZT and others all produce here for a reason. Plus Concealed/open carry is allowed and easy to do. That being said people need to be smart about things.

Re: Too much politics! - 01/18/13 08:27 PM

in general i dont feel comfortable expressing my views. especially on the net.

talking about what the taskmasters are up to is good and necessary, but i know lots of people get sick of it.

its tricky when it comes to forums that are not geared to the topic, (or want to stay out of it or neutral) but i know for one, i would never join a political forum.

Re: Too much politics! - 01/18/13 08:47 PM

I am not sure the bill of rights should be off limits to discuss without it we will loose the right to carry the knifes we enjoy so much. I haven't seen to much bashing left or right this is an issue that shouldn't, be the bill of rights and the constitution should never be taken away from the people in any form. It is the basis for our country, without it we are nothing.

OK rant off

I also believe we should be aware of what is going on around us, but it is Dan's site and we need to abide by the rules he has set. And YES, I know I did it as well and for that I apologize to my fellow Dogs. I should have stopped it before it was but I just got caught up in it to much.

Re: Too much politics! - 01/19/13 01:04 PM

We should all just relax and exercise the rights given us by the Twenty-First Amendment.

Re: Too much politics! - 01/19/13 01:09 PM

Yup, we should just relax and chill out. It won't be easy (at least for me), but I'm gonna try.

Re: Too much politics! - 01/20/13 07:16 AM

I feel no guilt for being free or exercising my rights. So, no apologies from me.

Again, brevity wins.

I like that we can say things here and respect one another enough not to be insulted. Discussion is healthy. Passionate discussion can get stressful. On some topics, many feel so strongly it's near pointless to argue.

For example, if you think I'll willingly give up any right or privelage I currently have...not going to happen.

I could do the rant, it just wouldn't be liberal.
