What's in your Scrapper sheath pouch?

I've had my Scrapper for a couple of weeks now and I've finally put some 'junk' in the handy pouch on the front. So here's what's in mine right now;

4 1/2" long white ceramic crock stick
A little Nalgene bottle with some oil and a little square of cotton cloth inside
An old oval shaped 35mm film pot with 4 medium and 1 coarse 'wet&dry' strips
and finally a spare gas cigarette lighter

I did think about putting my Gerber Legend in there (with just the crock stick), but I like to have knives spread out not all together... So what useful bits do you guys have?

hmm...I didnt get a scrapper sheath with mine...I have been thinking of making an attachment for the kydex sheaths though...

I have a spare sheath that is similar to the one SYKW sells with there's (got it with a Ranger) and I put a small fishing kit and fire starting kit inside..

What do you suggest for a mini survival?? I have 2 of the 4 basics covered, and I want to have a better grasp of what I might need

Well, the important things are shelter, fire, water, and food. How about a quart ziplock bag and some micropur tabs to purify water? Maybe some wire for making snares. Sometimes you can get lost in an area where there isn't any deeper water with fish in it. Or you could also add some heavy spiderwire type cordage. Then it could be used for fishing or snaring.

Good idea bro...I had thought of using some wire for snaring, but I am pretty sure that if I have to snare anything I will die an ugly death (never had any luck with it!)

I am going to take a look at my kit tomm after I get off of work...I think my fishing kit needs some love as well as the shelter part of the kit

I usually just keep some gum and a bottle opener in mine!.....you folks make the boyscouts look like amateurs!

Well, I think it would be pretty hard to add anything like a tarp for shelter to your sheath kit. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> My thought was to use the knife to build a shelter. To aid in this, I think it would be good to add as much 550 cord to your sheath as you can comfortably carry.

Remember, each foot of paracord = more than 8 feet of cordage. (sheath plus 7 inner strands) The sheath has a 200 lb weight limit and each inner strand is 50 lb limit. I said more than 8 feet because each inner strand can be untwisted for even finer cordage, but it would be pretty weak.

Another tip is to replace the laces in your shoes/boots with paracord. I did that with my Mom's tennis shoes. That way, if you need emergency cordage, you can salvage the inner strands, but leave the sheath to tie your shoes with. That way you always have some good cordage with you.

I didn't get the sheath with mine. However, I do have a "Survival Sheath" that I was using with a Ranger RD-7. Now it's the Scrapper's sheath.

I did a little macromae (sp?) and made a lanyard out of some paracord that measures about 6 inches long. If I were to unravel it I'd have about 10-12 feet of paracord.

In the little pouch on the sheath I've got a folding diamond sharpener, a bic lighter, sweedish fire steel, and small battery container. And right now I've even stuffed a Swamp Rat RIP in it because I don't know what to do with the thing.

The little container came with a Digilight flashlight. The container is sized just right to hold a couple of 123 batteries. However, I use it to store about 10 strike anywhere matches, a button compass, a button, 2 safety pins, a small roll of dental floss, 2 sewing needles, some sinkers and fishing line.

Andy, nice kit mate! I keep a well stocked kit in a tobacco kit (mummified in duct tape!) and I thought your kit would be a great basis for anyone else putting one together. I agree with your list of survival priorites too... On a similar vein I think (proper) paracord is probably the best thing since fire for us outdoor types, but over here it is a total pain getting the real stuff!

I put a couple strong magnets on mine and stuck it to the front of my fridge, and I use it for (big suprise) ICE! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />


Get it on eBay! You can get any color you want. Most sellers ship internationally, and if they don't, you could have it shipped to me and I could re-mail it if you want. I'm used to shipping stuff all the time since I'm an eBay seller. I ship internationally pretty frequently. I've shipped to dozens of countries.

I got lucky and found a new full thousand foot (or whatever it is) spool of white paracord at the local Sale Barn auction for $10! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> That's the best deal I've ever found on paracord.
