Is this the last straw?

Is this the last straw? - 09/02/15 06:22 PM

Is it just me, or does other of you guys feel, that the most recent "new knife in 2 weeks" update is the last straw?

I have a sense, that many of the last "regulars" on here will simply fade away. Patience has been spent.

I have been on here for four years now, seen my self post less and less frequent. As have many others.

But lately, one begins to feel stupid checking in. More stupid than before.

And that is sad, cus' Scrap Yard is what got me into the whole Bussekin thing.

When I saw Noss beat the Scrapper 6, and it held up to his abuse, I have not looked back.
Only now there seems to be nothing to forward to. Except the promise of steel, that never comes.

Prove me wrong Dan, please.

I disappeared for a while. I saw the same video you did and that's what got me here. I'm here for the community... I'm not really interested in 1095 knives... Which is what is promised. Idk... Guess time will tell brother.

Sadly, MANY of our long time members and JYD's have left due to the poor or misleading communications and lack of steel. frown

disappointing but i'm sure a lot of things can come up in this business

Re: Is this the last straw? - 09/02/15 10:04 PM

I've seen many of the old timers leave and never come back. I'm sure its because lack of communications mostly. This board used to have 2 to 3 times as much activity and posts, but now its pretty much dead. I left here for 2 or 3 years because it was dead on here and very few new knives to discuss. Years ago there was a few new Scrapyard knives a year, so there was lots to discuss. I already seen some regulars stop checking in and posting and I'm sure more will do the same.

Yep. It's sad. The gaps between steel are hard on believers. While I know part of Busse sales is the mystery of what's next and when we the customers would love more communication from the people working at the shop and the Busse family.
If there isn't steel then at least let us know you are alive more often.
And please communicate with the forum mods. Tom is amazing and if he
Isn't being spoken to and is having doubts that's a symptom of a bigger problem.

I'm starting to suspect the "new old model" predates Scrapyard and maybe even the Swamp... a scrap yard without steel is after all just a vacant lot. frown

x2

The "two weeks" joke wears thin when you feel like you're just being ignored.

Nothing good can come from taking your customers from granted.

Re: Is this the last straw? - 09/03/15 11:48 AM

I am fairly certain, that I will stick around.
And I am also fairly certain, that I will buy another Scrap Yard knife. If Dan ever releases one...!!

I have tought about making some dramatic exit, promising never to return.
But I would feel so stupid coming crawling back, in 2017, when Dan releases the 10-year Anniversary INFI Scrapper 6 at 3/16" thickness, at a favorable price cool

If it keeps going like this there may not be anything left by 2017.

I have a feeling most of my knife cash for the rest of the year will go to Busse Battle Grade releases

MM
cool

Though I got a piece of TRASH

Re: Is this the last straw? - 09/06/15 02:44 AM

With the way Busse is releasing knives I don't know if the TRASH will make the cut.

Re: Is this the last straw? - 09/06/15 02:57 AM

In saw that noss video and bought my first scrapyard shortly after, and never looked back. I see all the blades released in previous years and in the years I've been hanging around very few new releases. I keep waiting for new designs from the yard and even Busse.

This!!!

They keep recycling blade shapes and using different steels and switch handles, but it's still pretty much the same old stuff. whistle

Re: Is this the last straw? - 09/07/15 02:11 PM

True. The only really new designs I've seen are the MMD and the MOABOLO.

I have to agree to this. If they were bringing back old designs, I wish they could bring back their old knives that put them on the map, like the scrapper 6, dogfighter, yard hook and those old school knives.

Well, my thinking is that the entire BKG is heading back to the old model of sales where the Yard is back to. Busse seems to be also, not sure about the Swamp though.

That being said, in order to continue hitting a certain price/performance ratio it would make sense from a CNC standpoint to just use designs that are already programmed.
