Re: Stray returning to the Yard - 08/31/19 04:30 AM

So in 2014 I went out of work on disability. August 2014 I sold my knife collection towards bills. FFBM..Gladius ...Rat Daddy..other Busse and Rats. I only have 1 knife left. My 1311. So I'll be looking to get my collection going again. First priority is to hopefully get my FFBM back. The buyer said I could buy it back when I was on my feet but that was 5 years ago lol. If he wants to keep it I understand of course. That was the knife that brought me to Busse and kin. I watched the video with the masked madman Noss as he beat a FFBM till it broke. I waited 7 months and found the exact variant and handle combo as the one he tested and bought it. My grail lol

Re: Stray returning to the Yard - 08/31/19 04:39 AM

As you have probably already discovered, Dan hasn't released many knives lately. SO we just mostly amuse ourselves with knives we wish he would make, older knives and just generally messing with each other. Not much else to talk about as of late. But we are still a family of mangy curs who manage to get along even without our leader (Other than Tom of course).

I cant even remember when the last scrapyard offering was its been so long. Yes, there is some hope there might be a regular scrapyard offering per Dan's posts from a few months ago. We havnt heard anything from him since he posted that, but its common for him to be MIA for a long time.

That FFBM sounded really nice, what color was it? Black on black?

Re: Stray returning to the Yard - 08/31/19 01:56 PM

Black on black and red g10.
Dan's post is our lifeline I guess. We just need to keep her on page one and keep ideas comin I guess.

Jerry pulls ALL the strings, so it's a good idea to keep an eye on Bladeforums as well. wink

And take Randy with a grain of salt; after all, he DOES wear fairy wings while posing with knives and guns. laugh

Yes, I realized Jerry ran the show quite a few years ago, especailly after SY stopped making knives. I guess why sell a $150.00 SY knife when you could sell a $500.00 Budk, I mean Busse knife rolleyes

Capitalism IS the way of the world, unfortunately for many of us.

Re: Stray returning to the Yard - 09/02/19 03:21 AM

I agree capitalism makes the world go around and im fine with that. I'm sure you can still make plenty of profit on a Scrapyard knife that costs around $150.00. I like capitalism but when these companies get greedy is what I dont like. I guess thats why I cant even remember the last Busse kin knife i bought. I think its been at least 6 years since I bought a Busse/kin knife. Plus it dont help since all their knives in the past several years look like fantacy knives that Budk is selling which i couldnt see any practical use out of them.

I'm glad last year when I recieved my Randall knife I ordered 5 years ago, super nice knife and worth every penny and worth the wait.

Re: Stray returning to the Yard - 09/02/19 03:25 AM

FIVE YEARS! I couldn't imagine waiting even half that long, for any kind of product. But I do agree, Randall knives ARE nice, at least the one I ALMOST bought way back in about 1985 was.

Re: Stray returning to the Yard - 09/02/19 12:42 PM

I have mentioned this before, but I will mention it again. A few years ago when Jerry Busse hosted a seminar at the " Blade University" at the Blade show, he talked about when he first started selling knives. He said one of his biggest problems was determining how much to charge for his knives. One of the "old timers" told him that his knives were worth "whatever the customers were willing to pay for them". As long as folks are willing to pay, prices will continue to rise. Just keep in mind that Busse is a USA made product, employing US workers and has an outstanding warranty.

Many of his offerings have been priced out of my reach, but apparently there are plenty of folks with all kinds of expendable cash. Good for them I guess; I just don't have Randy's money. whistle.......................................... grin

Ha ha. I invest all my expendable funds in the acquisition of Fortune 500 companies. grin

Re: Stray returning to the Yard - 09/02/19 08:39 PM

My grandpa used to say some guys have more money than brains, but if you can afford a $950.00 knife then go for it. Im sure glad some guys can buy knives that expensive. I think the most expensive knife I ever bought was from the blade show think around 2010/2011 was a Busse satin FBM with yellow/black G-10 handles, think I paid $695.00 for it, beautiful knife. I couldnt see myself ever using it so I sold it to a buddy of mine for what I paid for it.

Re: Stray returning to the Yard - 09/02/19 09:11 PM

The batch for sale Wednesday has a lot of beautiful handles on some nice knives, but they are out of my reach. Now Randy, on the other hand........................................ laugh laugh

Re: Stray returning to the Yard - 09/03/19 02:00 AM

Yeah, I thought about buying one of each but then again, why should I be so greedy. wink

It's nice that you're giving others a chance to acquire those knives. grin
