SCRAP YARD KNIVES IN COLOR!

SCRAP YARD KNIVES IN COLOR! - 05/04/07 12:09 AM
You can get a SYKCO knife in any color you like, so long as it is black. Sounds like Henry Ford. As Paul the Brit said on another thread, it would be nice to have tan handles and urban gray blades. I am tired of just black for sheaths, handles, and blades. Adding a little color should hardly increase the cost at all. Why not foliage green, tan, gray, and olive options? Just my opinion. What do you other dogs think?

If Dan can do it without increasing the cost any I am all for it. If not then black is fine with me.

OD is my favorite color. OD, Coyote, Tan, Grey would all rule.

On a slightly more serious note I think tan and urban grey (Iraq), OD and black (or urban grey?)(Europe, Africa) and perhaps another camo variant (other theatres) would be performance enhancers as well as eye-catchers..

'Extrema Ratio' do interchangeable handles to suit the theatre.. But they are Busse money and only have a 'limited lifetime for original purchaser only' warranty. I prefer the Busse family warranty!

I think the price for other colors might only be a few dollars more per knife.
Two tones would be extra, just like Harleys.

'For a few Dollars more..' A tan and grey S6 would money well spent, a tan and grey S7 would be even better!
The thought of an INFI tan and grey S7 means I now need to go for a lie down (plus it's 2330 here!)..

Foliage green is awesome, and it matches the new Army Combat Uniform (ACU) colors. I'd love to see either blades or grips in that color. If anything though, Tan handles would be nice - if there are some that are scrap.

Re: SCRAP YARD KNIVES IN COLOR! - 05/04/07 12:34 AM
I suspect the only way we'll see a color combination other than black on black is if a contractor orders some Scrap Yard knives with different colors and we end up with another mil overrun.
FWIW, I am against anything that increases the prices of Dan's knives . . . PERIOD!
Then YOU could just buy the black ones, Bruce.

I think one of the reasons people keep asking about micarta is the colors possible. We know that RES C, Cordura, and paint are all available in colors. The price increases on the various color options would be no where near the cost of micarta handles or polished blades. This way there could be variations in the same model. Some collectors will want them all. Others would be content with the standard black. I requested the same thing of another much larger knife company. Naturally, they ignored me!

OD / Battleship grey / Urban camo grey/black would be nice. Tan is over done. No vote for blue from Dice?

I am down for color combos, grey and tan up top the list for me, but any thing (i.e. black) will work.

Re: SCRAP YARD KNIVES IN COLOR! - 05/04/07 03:25 AM
Form follows function, black works. Other colors would be cool, but to me only offering black is true to the original message making no concession to fashion.
The black makes a minimalist statement, sort of a right hook versus the Karate kid.

I would go for any kind of gray and maybe an OD green. I'm not really a fan of tan.

Re: SCRAP YARD KNIVES IN COLOR! - 05/04/07 08:04 AM
my main concern with black is if I drop it or place it somewhere dark or at night I may lose it, otherwise I think it's fine. So I try and put a very visible lanyard on to help with that..

Black is my favorite. Not a huge fan of tan. OD or gray I could be tempted to consider, but I would probably still choose black.

I find a bright yellow or orange lanyard or wrist loop helps low light lost knife finding, tan and grey would be good for Iraq and Afghanistan..
If we only get one colour black is the right one..

I know I only have one SYKC blade however I don't have any desire to see it in any other colour. I am more interested in how the knife works then the colour. However if they came in tan or whatever if I liked the blade I'd buy the knife

Not a bad idea HD.. Knife colour CAN be a performance issue, if you drop your one and only field knife into deep water or long grass in low light, you could be in deep sh**! I'm not advocating signal orange handles- but there is an argument for them..
