ScrapYard Hawk? - 09/12/06 01:14 AM

So what are the odds of getting a Scrap Yard Hawk?

The super shock resistance of S77 seems like it would make for a great hawk... I would buy one... and can only imagine how good it woul dlook with the ScrapYard mascot's head engraved on either side. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

What say you?

Thanks, Tom! She and my yard-baboon 2.5 yr old boy are more fun than a X-Box! It's fun to drag my daughter off on Daddy/Daughter days on the weekend. She is all about pink/flowers/glitter but happily picks up worms, gets muddy, and likes to go on river trips in the kayaks. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Some of my most cherished memories of my kids when they were little revolve around camping and vacation trips. Enjoy them while you can ! Tom

It kinda reminds me of a more modern version of the Vietnam hawk with the spike on it. I can't wait to get it. [Linked Image from swampratknifeworks.com] I wanted a good hawk for a long time. This is the coolest one I've ever seen. And it has the best warranty in the industry. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> If you really must have one, I'm sure a couple will end up on the secondary market shortly after they're released.

Well, instead of typing in the quick reply box at the bottom of the threads, you have to click either reply, or quote on the right side of the posts. Then when the page loads, you can click one of the "Instant Graemlins" and it will insert the code into your post.

If you want to use a special one not listed (like the pirate one I used) you first copy the emoticon link by right clicking on the emoticon you want to use and choosing "copy image location". Then when replying using either the quote or reply link, you click the Image link under " Instant UBB Code". When the box pops up asking for the address, you paste (CTRL V) the emoticon url into the box, just like when you display a picture.

Hope that helps. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
That was a quick reply, so if you still can't figure it out, lemme know.

No Blockbuster for about 60 miles - the closest video rental is one of the grocery stores, about 20 miles away. But I'll look for it next time I go to town. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I have the same problem, Blockbuster is about 15 miles from me. So what I did was sign up for their rental by mail service. As low as $10 a month for one rental at a time. I have the plan that's $20 a month, and I get 3 movies at a time. The postage back is pre-paid, you just stick it in the envelope and put it in the mailbox, and they send your next movie from your list that you chose.

When I first signed up, I was deciding between them and Netflix. They're prices were the same, so I went with Blockbuster. The reason was, BB also gives you free in store rental coupons each month, so if you're in town and see something you like, you can rent it free. So, you're really getting more for your $ than Netflix.
Posted By: Private Klink

Re: ScrapYard Hawk? - 09/22/06 01:29 PM

Thanks for the suggestion Andy. My son rents from Blockbuster quite often, and receives the coupons for free rentals you mentioned. Of course, he works in Huntsville, Alabama, so the BB store is quite handy for him.
I usually just wait for movies to come out on DVD and then buy them. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I'd post more, but these new little pups will not stop peeing.
Luckily, my scrapper seems to be immune to the chewing frenzy. A smarter man would probably put it away, but a smarter man would most likely not have gotten 2 pups on the same day.
Posted By: Private Klink

Re: ScrapYard Hawk? - 09/23/06 01:49 PM

Roo - I really think that two pups at a time are the way to go, if you have the facilities and room. They will have each other for companionship even when there are no owners around. Consequently, they seem to cause a little less damage. But the chewing frenzy will drive you crazy!

hell's yeah!and, with a ScrapYard dog's head on both sides of the hawk's head,a fitting name might be Cerebus(?)the two headed dog that guards the gates of Hades..

Re: ScrapYard Hawk? - 10/09/06 03:18 PM

The dog had 3 heads....so maybe an extra logo an the handle, or a logo on the sheath!

All good ideas!

Re: ScrapYard Hawk? - 10/11/06 12:31 AM

You could always go 'Gil Hibben' thrower style and have a double bitted axe with another little axe blade, or even a nice little double edge blade on top! Three nice pointy 'heads' on your dog!

Remember GF, Paul is from England, where they used to use battle-axes, some with spikes on the top-end. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Re: ScrapYard Hawk? - 10/14/06 12:45 AM

Yep our old battle axes and polearms often had long stilletto spikes on top for getting through the gaps in armour to finish off a knight... Gil Hibben (to the best of my knowledge) is an American knife maker though who makes lower end throwers etc.

Re: ScrapYard Hawk? - 10/15/06 05:10 PM

I'd love to see a Scrapyard Khukuri. 13" blade, 5" Res-C handle, 3/8" thick SR-77.

Also a Scrapyard Machete. 18" blade, 5.5" Res-C handle, 3/16" thick SR-77.

Re: ScrapYard Hawk? - 10/23/06 01:03 AM

The OLD British Army pattern parang 'Golok' in decent steel (sorry Martindale but it could be so much better!) would be a truly great heavy working blade.

Re: ScrapYard Hawk? - 10/23/06 03:21 AM

Golok is a good idea...made from good steel that isnt overly hard
Posted By: Paul the Brit'

Re: ScrapYard Hawk? - 10/24/06 12:34 AM

If it could be made in res-C and SR77 (using 3/16 or 5mm stock) with a taper from around 4.5/5mm thick at the grip edge to around 3/3.5mm toward the tip it would be a chopper to re-write the book... The typical dog hardness would be ok I think, rather than going softer.

Re: ScrapYard Hawk? - 12/08/06 03:01 AM

I have been noodling my own Golok....

5160 or A2 steel with a nice convex edge...have a "thinnish" blade around .125 or so...MAYBE go up to 5/32 if tha feeling hits me

hmm I really need a Golok...anyone got one? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
