Hello - and questions for Dan/Patti

Hello - and questions for Dan/Patti - 09/12/06 01:19 PM

First off hi to everyone.

Another new forum and more knives from our favourite family of cutlers. What could be better?

Now a couple questions for Dan or Patti.

Would one of you be kind enough to give us a bit of an introduction as to what we can expect to see from Scrapyard and how we might expect to see whatever it is we will see?

Can you give us an indication of what other models you might have coming up and when - or even a pic or two??

How will Scrapyard work, in terms of stock on hand, orders in advance, etc
Will you normally have knives in stock or will you normally take orders in advance and fulfill the orders as the blades are produced?

Will you normally only be producing one line/model at a time?

And will there be a 9"+ chopper soon???
6" might be OK as a steak knife (for small steaks...) but I'm sure some of us are just hankering for something with a bit of heft and reach....
:-)

And one more question - I'm another from the land down under - will a purchase from the Busse Company Store qualify me for a purcahse from you guys?

I'd really like to know a bit more about how you guys will be doing business and my guess is a pile of other people would like to know too, so I think it would be fair to say we'd be very appreciative if you could give us a bit of a rundown on how it will all work.

Thanks and Regards
FireballXL5

PS I like your site - well done!

Hi Fireball,

Orders for Scrap Yard Knives will all be placed at the Scrap Yard Company Store and only knives listed as In-Stock will be available for purchase. The orders will ship within 10 days of receipt of funds, so wait times will be minimal. At the moment, there is only the Scrapper 6 and Scrapper 6 LE. More knives will be added as they are available.

Lots of good things will be coming out of the Yard. For pics of some more Scrappy blades, check out this thread and keep checking these forums for announcements.

well if you added like 400 of each knife to the shopping cart you could see how many were available, but they changed it now so you cant anymore.

Are the knives being shipped via USPS ? I thought that I had read that somewhere, but can't remember.

I bet so. Since that's how SR ships them. I'm guessing it's the most affordable option.

Re: Hello - and questions for Dan/Patti - 09/14/06 05:24 AM

The USPS should be pretty cheap. I have received knives such as the SOG Tigershark and Fallkniven Thor shipped USPS Priority for a decent cost. The Yard is charging plenty enough for fast and efficient shipping.

Or the Great Southern Gun and Knife show in NewOrleans this upcoming weekend....only a 6 hour drive and it would be a great PR oppertunity......hell, send me a box and I will rent the table and sell them for you.

If something like that came to the door delivering a knife for me, the little woman would use the knife on its new owner. Be careful what you wish for, you may get it (and more)!

Re: Hello - and questions for Dan/Patti - 09/21/06 01:22 AM

I don't know -- i have some experience with the use of big blades in tactical scenarios -- i would bet that i could get across a room or down a hall with a big chopper as fast as i could effectively draw and aim a pistol; compared to the shottie, the blade could be a little slower, but no danger of overpenetration (well, maybe with GF's new flying Nuke, there would be), and level of force can be pecisely modulated through use of different target zones -- i would be comfortable clearing a structure with a big blade in about any position but point (which is ironic- inside joke). I think edged weapos are about the most underrated threat in modern CQC... oops typing too much -- i must not have enough drinks in my hands, yeah, yeah that's it...
Posted By: Gravelface

Re: Hello - and questions for Dan/Patti - 09/21/06 02:13 AM

No, that was getting good! I just heard about some CQC in a California school this evening....sound like they are training them young out there!

Train and train is all they do...I don't know who would be better in combat...fellows from the hills trained in long distance shooting or the urban "solja" who sprays and prays!
Posted By: Private Klink

Re: Hello - and questions for Dan/Patti - 09/22/06 01:53 AM

Personally, I would opt for the hills fellows, and keep the combat at long distance whenever possible. Wolverines! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

Where are you in relation to New Orleans and Baton Rouge ? And where is the nearest VA hospital ? If you are at least 50% disabled within the VA Health System you should be able to get milage pay from the VA, I believe.

Re: Hello - and questions for Dan/Patti - 10/02/06 08:33 PM

No doubt, Big A is one smart cookie! Me not so smart, but me have other things me good at, like, um... me forgot!
It's true, itn't it: profanity is often poetic, and poetry is often profane -- Like Joyce's Ulysses was actually banned for being obscene! Unthinkable by today's standards. If you follow that logic, then what is considered profane or obscene now will later be perfectly acceptable -- that's simple evolution -- censorship is primitive, and the more we evolve, the less we consider offensive. So we just have to have compassion for those who are offended by us, they are simply less evolved, that's all. In a couple hundred years, they'll come around...
Posted By: Paul the Brit'

Re: Hello - and questions for Dan/Patti - 10/03/06 12:08 AM

I'm not so sure that censorship is primitive and we are evolving away from it, or that as a society we are exposed to 'more' and thus lose our sensitivity to things that previously would have shocked... Compassion to our peers is a fine sentiment though!!
Posted By: Gravelface

Re: Hello - and questions for Dan/Patti - 10/03/06 12:37 AM

Paul, I don't want to hear anything about your views on censorship....frontal nudity is acceptable over there! And I am missing every minute of it!

As far as adult themed "art", I thought Denmark was leading the pack ?! Anyway, it's not worth arguing over.

GF -- i'm assuming somewhere in the near future in the master plan lies the MOJO, silently waiting to be ushered into existence by the Don of the Yard... right? we can't forget about the MOJO... maybe he can come after the bowie, the mudder edc and the 5/16" thick SR-77 Howling Dog...
