Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 09/14/06 05:07 AM

A set of Dog Tags would be pretty cool. Maybe it's too early to suggest it but hell I figured my scrapper is on it's way so might as well. What you guys think?

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 09/14/06 05:10 AM

We never got Swamp tags. But I gotta say, dog tags sound quite appropriate for Scrap Yard. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Dog Tags, they do have a certain ring to them.....Can I get my Dogs vaccinated?

I want my Dirty Old Uncle's Dog fixed......now THAT should clarify everything.....sounds like code.....the ladies are dirty...I repeat the ladies are dirty.......HHMMMMM what would the ladies of the Scrapyard Dog Company be called? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 09/14/06 02:48 PM

By the way, I like the idea of dog tags as well. They would be a ready identifier at any knife shows attended, and a great conversation starter. They could be used as a sales tool as well.

I would like to get some dog tags too. That would be sweeet! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

That's it...WE NEED SCRAP YARD BLING!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 09/14/06 08:12 PM

GF- - i still would feel sorry for a neutered Mojo... seems like an oxymoron... you could just paint the catcher glossy red... a limited run called the Red Rocket Mojo...

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 09/14/06 08:14 PM

man, it would be no fun having your leg humped by a SYKCO Mojo... owiee!!
Posted By: greens

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 09/14/06 08:30 PM

what if you can detach the catcher. Anytime you need it just put it back on "click". Genius, eh?
Posted By: sr77dogg

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 09/14/06 08:38 PM

cool -- detachable catcher... or you could get a separate one -- what is that samurai tool that looks like a sai with a knife blade and only one guard? A jute? Something like that...

it could bolt on like the early d-guard for the Steel Heart

It could be a black or grey shirt with the Black Dog head and red letters...man that would just look awsome.......Powers above...are you listening?

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 09/15/06 08:08 AM

I dunno why we never got hats/shirts at the Swamp. Give the people what they want! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> I mean, it's a great deal for them...people PAY them money to advertise for them! In advertising it's usually the other way around. I too would love some Rat/Dog gear. There are a LOT of knife users out there, but a lot of them have never heard of the Busse family. I've had complete strangers many times come up to me and start talking knives after they see one of mine sticking out of my pocket or whatever. It would be a great conversation starter to "convert" people to the Busse family. Especially for those of us who carry more than one Rat/Hog/Dog EDC.

I could design an EMPIRE!!!! We will take the Country by breeding in the strongest dogs there are and weeding out inferior species of blades! Back home in Texas there was a Local Band who sponsored a Little League football team, they put their logo on all the helmets.....great public awareness!

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 09/16/06 06:30 AM

Now we just need a couple of you computer geniuses to post a good picture of logos, etc. here. Then we could print them out, scan it, then after some manipulation, print it up on transfer paper. Application to shirts, hats, etc. would follow. All of this is assuming that it would be OK with Scrap Yard Knives. Is this possible ?

You can get iron-on paper for your printer to make your own.
Posted By: Private Klink

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 09/16/06 07:49 AM

Yes Andy - my wife has made a few iron-ons before. They actually work pretty well. She made one for my son - a picture of a Heddon Zara Spook lure - and ironed it on a tee-shirt for him. He loved it!
Posted By: Gravelface

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 09/16/06 02:32 PM

Wow, I love fishing, but sporting a lure on a shirt is just impressive...He is the master and I am the student!
Posted By: Private Klink

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 09/16/06 06:00 PM

My son managed to out-fish me on my own pond, using a Zara Spook lure. So, as a reward, my wife made the shirt with the lure picture and the phrase "The Z Man". Pretty neat shirt really. He wears it with pride, especially around me when he is here. He loves to come up here for a "sanity break" when he needs to take a break.

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 09/17/06 12:22 AM

Last time I went fishing was when my daughter was 2.....she just made three, but it seemed ages ago...I caught a brim and she was so excited...I really do think I should go again!

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 09/17/06 06:10 AM

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> GF - Take your daughter fishing whenever you can - it will probably be some of the best time you ever spend with her. My kids are 34 and 35, but they still fondly remember and talk about past fishing trips. My son is now my favorite fishing partner when we can get together - even if he DOES outfish me! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" /> Just remember to be patient and attentive with her, and you will both have a great time. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 10/01/06 01:26 PM

Yes, and I bet it will be really cool! The Yard logo is really sharp, and should be great as a tattoo.
Posted By: Paul the Brit'

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 10/01/06 01:53 PM

The logo is very cool, great for tattoos, tees, baseball caps(?) and on the side of large bowies! Dan should do an INFI Scrapper 7 (because I want one!) then concentrate on sr77 to be his own man. This is great start if he does it his way he'll strengthen the family..
Posted By: Private Klink

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 10/01/06 08:22 PM

Paul - let Dan release the BOWIE next, in SR77 as he stated before the poll. This is a seperate company, and should develop its own identity, regardless of how Jerry's kids try to influence it with Infi.
I think that when the Yard DOES release an Infi blade, it should DEFINITELY have the Yard logo on it!!!!!
Posted By: Paul the Brit'

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 10/01/06 08:27 PM

Sorry in my post above I took it as read that the next knife (poll winner) would be the sr77 bowie ('on the side of large bowies'), I think the sr77 will be the 'dog thing and no bad thing too! The INFI Scrapper 7 is just my pet dream knife...

Well, it's like, i don't think any of us have anything against HOGs or infi (although i admit i like S7/SR-77 better), it's just that they didn't show up in droves from the beginning, they showed up when they thought they could get a knife made of infi on the cheap. THAT was what bothered me (and the fact that when they lost the vote they all split -- no, not all, but the numbers went from 17 viewing to 6 viewing. The subversive, do-anything-for-infi thing definitely has its place -- on the Busse Combat forum. Fanatic DOGS represent here -- in tha Dogg House -- holla!

Well done sr77dogg, it's cool to get mongrel I was well chuffed when I did!

I was interested in your thoughts about the hog invasion and the INFI. My INFI thing is because reviews suggest it has superb corrosion resistance, rust does worry me a little on sr77 or sr101 steel. While I voted for and will order a bowie I do hope Dan does some INFI (the shorty in the poll and a Scrapper 7 would be cool!). Did the hogs come here chasing cheaper INFI or INFI with res-C grips?? I'd be interested in your thoughts...

As a group, you can't find a nicer bunch than the Hogs, but dangle a piece of pork in front of them and they go hog-wild... i wouldn't want to get between a HOG and his or her INFI, that's for sure...

I think dogg said it quite well, and certainly can't fault the Hogs for wanting to get some Res-C/Infi at a great price - I certainly do !!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> I just don't think they should have subverted our vote - they could have waited until an Infi model was released and then purchased it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />

I'm not sure if the hogs exactly subverted the poll but they sure did storm in on-mass to vote up the INFI. My only thought about it really is that it's a shame if they don't stay active on the forum and help shape a great company! If they came over just to bag a cheaper INFI knife I understand their drive, but as Dan's thing is sr77 perhaps they can support that as well? I hope Dan does do some INFI as he goes along, I'll order the INFI shorty (also a bowie of course!) and you all know my thoughts on INFI Scrapper 7s...

You know an INFI Scrapper 7 would be fine (very fine), but so would an S9... that could be even better! Anyone just mutter 'hell yeah'?

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 10/11/06 12:24 AM

Paul - I hear you on the corrosion resistance thing - if i didn't practically live in a desert i would probably be a lot more keen on INFI - for corrosion resistance at that level of toughness and abrasion resistance, it seems like INFI pretty much eclipses every thing else that i can think of. My S6LEs have a little patina starting where my thumb rests on the spine in front of the grip, and again in the recess of the choil... if i lived someplace humid or near the ocean where any exposed steel becomes covered in red scale, i have a feeling i would develop a keen appreciation for corrosion resistance...

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 10/11/06 12:25 AM

ps a S9 in INFI still gets a "Hell YEEEah, boyeee!!!" from me...

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 10/11/06 12:47 AM

I went for the black Scrapper 6 so I have some corrosion protection. Thom seems pretty happy with S7's rust resistance, I figure surface patina should be fine as long as we dont get rust pits and other structural damage- no real problem... Let me know how the patina developes and how it cleans off please mate! Just as an aside I have an old and not much loved Eickhorn combat knife in (some type of) carbon steel, that is just my gardening knife and really doesn't get any maintainence other than a grind on a fine (low speed) carborundom wheel every so often. That knife goes away 'wet', 'wet and muddy' or 'wet muddy and sap covered'.. hardly a mark on it after 3 years(ish)! Perhaps carbon steel isn't the rot terror of my nightmares afterall.

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 10/21/06 11:20 PM

Hehe, I can't chuck spears worth a [censored], I'd just throw stones at the animal until it was so p***ed off it charged me then 'brace spear' to resist a charge... If I ever have to go 'stone-age' in a survival situation I hope there are a few aggressive prey animals about!

Re: Scrap Yard Dog Tags - 10/24/06 04:53 AM

Well, actually, I didn't delete it, I just didn't mention it. That was the next couple lines. Anthony Hopkins said the above line, then Alec Baldwin said "I'm going to kill the bear!" Then AH said, "That's right, I'm going to kill the mfer."

The movie The Edge. Have you not seen it? It's a good survival movie set in Alaska. You can see pics of the knife from the movie at: <a href="www.lyttleknives.com" target="_blank">www.lyttleknives.com</a>, but the URL isn't working for me right now. You can see the cached page on Google though.
