100% Scrap Yard Knife Pics - 11/27/07 08:23 PM

I know I wander a bit. Comparing this knife and that. I don't have every model variation that SY has made. Cold One does. I don't have the S6LE or the Urban Keeper. But I do have a version of every SY knife made. Here are my stripped and buffed ones:

Left to right: Dog Father, Yard Guard, Scrapper 6, and Dumpster Mutt.

If you get close, you will see that they are not completely satin finished,

The Yard Keeper LE and DMLE are my only two factory satin finished knives.
I included the SS4 in the picture because it has a logo and was limited.

The Tan handled S6 and Urban Mutt both have sage colored blades.

Here is a standard black S6 and Yard Hook.

Here are all my Scrapper 6s. I like the S6 a lot.

I like the S6s and DMs the best out of the SY offerings. They are great all around use knives.

Thanks HD!

The S6 is my favorite all-around knife. It is light enough for easy carry and big enough for chopping and hard use. It is the modern version of the old Mk 2 Combat/Utility knife (kabar).

I sadly don't have an S6. I just missed them and was not excited enough about the tan ones to import one so I am really hoping there is a rerelease. Personally I think you would have a complete collection if you had the S6LE. I don't really consider one offs to be necessary, nice but not necessary. You would have to have both the HookGuard and YardGuard though.

horndog,
I agree with your assessment of the S6, but... the DM is beginning to really stand out to me.
I EDC the DMCG in my briefcase, now. I had a S6CG in there, since I had one.
It is a much less 'alarming' knife to use, compared sizewise to the S6.

But.... I like the S6 enough that I will pick up a second tan for a user, if the opportunity arose. A OD would be fine, as well.

Don't worry, Unsub. If there is such a thing as a recurring Scrapper, its the S6. The balance is perfect. It is one of those knives that feels better than it looks, not that it looks bad. I tend to buy them whenever they are offered. It's nuts. All I need is one.

The DM is great when you want something more compact, but still seriously tough.

if any knife is going to be released with the dogfather (wich i sadly can't get)
i'd want it to be a tan s6.

im never going to be able to get my hands on the infamous dogfather.

Cool pics HD. I need to get my butt out there and take some pics.

Re: 100% Scrap Yard Knife Pics - 11/28/07 02:36 AM

You are correct. It is the compactness that I dig.
For actual knife grabbing time, I go for my S6CG, which lives in a leather sheath that Leatherface made for me. Truely, an awesome combination. Both tough as nails.
I would love to use the tan S6, but, I would hate to wreck it, with no easy way to replace it. I have set it up in a Spec Ops sheath, like yours.
Right now, it is sitting in the living room on the arm of my couch, looking pretty.

Great stuff Vic - you're the man. You and CO have some beautiful collections. Chris has the full set - you have some fantastic and functional mods that are simply beautiful.

I need to get an S6.

Two big differences that I see.

1. I own Dan's blades.
2. Vic makes Dan's blades his own!

I love the work you do Vic!

I carved a whole wooden spoon with this knife and used it to baton through just about everything that was needed for the fire and the spoon.

Tough knife, small chopper and great price!!!
