The DFLE pretty much belittles anything next to it doesn't it? She's a beaut. My kids were fighting over which one will get the DFLE when I decide to "give it to them". Yeah, I will get right on that one kiddies.

Well it did take me 2 days to explain to my wife that I had to have one. It was not easy especially after my ever increasing Jeep repair bill and Christmas. It was not an easy sell (as if she bought any bit of my dribble) .

Ron - congrats on your first HEAVY CHOPPER!! (am I wrong??)

Looks great next to the rest of your Busse Kin blades.

Oh I have more Busse Kin, but I did not want the wife to run a count so I left some in hiding . That is the first real heavy chopper I have. Now for pants, hmmm.

I might outsource some cow skin for this one. I will end up making some plastic pants at some point, but leather is calling me for this one. Who knows, I might try to make a leather sheath on my own. I am all about living on the edge lately.

That is the truth if I've ever heard it spoken...

Ron - I hear some FBMLE's have been in and out of the BCS. I'll bet you could email AmyO and have her write "Parts" on the box to avoid any incidents w/ the wife? Heck, she'd probably write "Parts For Ron's Jeep" on the box if you asked nice enough!!

The Dog Father LE has made it to the swamps of Georgia! Soon it will be pitted against the Ontario Survival Bowie in a chop off. Both 1/4" thick flat ground 10" blades with rubber handles (Kraton and Respirene C). This should be fun.

If I have learned anything over the years, it is not to underestimate knives because they are cheap. The Ontario is a proven performer. Naturally, the DFLE is much nicer and feels great. This just seems like a natural comparison to make. The knives are so close in size and design. I just love the new Dog Father. It feels great in the hand.

What I'm interested it, would like to see HD is the comparisons (surface) of the striped HD version DFCG and the SY DFLE! It would be really cool to see them side by side,

3rd World Grind Shop DFLE and SY DFLE just outta curiosity, we know you don't have Busse machines to finish em up but still you did a very nice job. and technically you were the first dawg to have one!

Re: Thanks Dan & Patti - The DFLE rules... - 12/21/07 03:45 AM

I will include my home made "LE" in the comparison. If I could design the perfect all-around big chopper, it would be the new, real, DFLE. I like the lighter, faster blades better than the really heavy choppers like the Fatty. Dan really outdid himself on this one.

Re: Thanks Dan & Patti - The DFLE rules... - 12/21/07 03:49 AM

I was hoping for big huge heavy knife and a nice convex edge when i was gonna get a dogfather, but i think ill like the flat ground lighter LE dogfather just as much. although i still do want to get my hands on a cg dogfather really bad!

Re: Thanks Dan & Patti - The DFLE rules... - 12/21/07 04:25 AM

I'm hearing that the DFLE is less front heavy than the DFCG, I'm wondering how it will affect chopping? I liked that extra "oumph!"

If I can't chop it witht the DFLE, then I will run it over with my boat/Jeep. I got a trans rebuild today, the Jeep rocks again.

all right Ron! whoo hoo. I'm not hearing you can't chop, just that it's balanced more. the CG wasn't balance as even being front heavy but I thought that was good/more advantageous for a chopper!
