2 Coins Meet:

2 Coins Meet: - 02/17/08 09:36 PM

I'll add this to the official thread later - although there was no "challenge," just a meeting! Whichdawg/Dan and I had breakfast thismorning in Longview WA - it was great to hang out w/ a prominent JYD such as himself. Our coins met, as did two rather famous Ranger knives. I got to get my hands on a SS4 to see what all the hype was about... GREAT KNIFE! I'll have to find one eventually... Anyways, sorry for the cruddy cell phone pix.

Long Live the Yard and the great people in it!!!

"meat" some dogs mac?

it's great that you get to meet some fellow dogs diceman, I hope to meet some, although I doubt I ever will get the chance to.

Aren't they? I love mine. I've been EDCing it for a couple months now. Lately I've been carrying it along with my new Endura for EDC. I might switch for a while to my GW if I ever make a sheath for it. Although, the GW might weigh more than the SS4.

We should plan to have a Dog Chow at Blade West. BW will be here before you know it!

Re: 2 Coins Meet: - 02/17/08 10:48 PM

sounds like fun. today was the nj knife collectors' association meeting, i haven't been to one of those in a while, but they're all right. i'd much rather fly out to the northwest corner.

Re: 2 Coins Meet: - 02/17/08 11:34 PM

LOL, I think I should get some kick back from Justin as it was my RD-9 that inspired YOUR RD-9. Yours does get a lot more airplay than mine though.

Congrats on the meeting! I need to meet more of my fellow Dawgs! I was lucky to meet PoP, and have spoken with a few of you on the phone.

Re: 2 Coins Meet: - 02/18/08 08:02 AM

Stan - I very much wish I had more time this weekend to be able to meet up with you. We did the Zoo today - woodland park or something like that - looked at the Space Needle (rather unimpressive! My wife said "lets just go up in the black building, its twice as tall!" We're in Lacey (Olympia) right now in a nice motel - Ameritel? - Anyways, either at Blade West, or at our NW get together campout (impending!) we'll have a couple of beers. Dan and I had a quick breakfast at a nice little pancake house, then took in the view (and a couple cigarettes!) above the river, and I had to head out.

I've met 3 Dogs so far - all have been great guys. The Scrapyard community is top notch and full of great people.

Unsub - I know what you mean - meeting Dan today wasn't like "meeting" someone for the first time - it was like seeing an old buddy or something - very cool.

Face - glad my blue Ranger inspired you some. It was a total ripoff of Ted's recurve, but I took it a step further with the satin and blue. Dan's Orange handle RD7 is a beast, its HEAVIER than my RD9! A LOT heavier!

Andy - I didn't realize that the mudder grip on the SS4 was going to be so hand filling - I really like it, and will get one eventually.

Mac - don't eat me.

Jeff - looked at Dan's sheaths and the coin holder - you're the man - amazing stuff. I'll shoot you a PM, but I'm very interested in getting in on a coin holder whenever you happen to be making some again. VERY cool, bro - precise and perfect.

Mag - come out any time!

Vic - Dan and I talked about your chopper collection and beautiful property today. Can't wait to meet you in person - one of these years at Blade!

Kraz - dog chow sounds good! Dan and I were talking about you today when the Yard Hook was being discussed. He asked if I had one - and I do because YOU hooked me up! Thanks again.

Dan M - I'll surely see you eventually - if anything, I'm going to tag along on one of your Indiana Jones-esque adventures!

You guys all rock. Time to go to the pool!

Re: 2 Coins Meet: - 02/18/08 05:25 PM

I never even knew ted had a ranger!

sorry ted.
that recurve must make it light, it looks very slim.
my rd9 weighs about 22 oz.
I think...

I think, if I were to meet someone like vic, or you, dice it would just be like, like you said, seeing an old friend or something.

I hope I can go to a blade eventually!
(not this year)

You're more than welcome my friend. I heard a rumor that a few airlines have started flying to Montana so mebbe you can make it out for Blade West. Lots to see in Oregon, makes a good family vacation!

I think...

I seem to have misplaced my RD-9 recurve photos but here's the RD-4 I got with a Leatherface sheath.

[Linked Image from homepage.mac.com]

I also did all the RD photos on Justin's website, the ones on the tan rocks and sand.

My RD-9 recurve weighs 19.4oz.

All my Rangers have black micarta handles and finish with red liners on the handles. For the record I have the RD-4, RD-9 recurve, and a Little Bird.

Re: 2 Coins Meet: - 02/19/08 08:59 AM

this is my rule of thumb;

If it's a nice looking blade, Ted's probably got it, if it's a very nice picture of a blade, Ted's probably got it!"
Posted By: diceman

Re: 2 Coins Meet: - 02/19/08 11:39 PM

I agree w/ your rule of thumb, Dan. If you see an amazing photo of a Ranger, Scrapper, or Swamp Rat - Ted took it. I've seen many GREAT shots of those knives - but the only amazing one's were Ted's work. Particularly those with nice themed backgrounds.

It would be nice to meet many of you. the color on those knives is beautiful

Re: 2 Coins Meet: - 02/22/08 12:20 AM

Thanks Scrappy!

Whichdawg/Dan and I have been talking about a NW Scrapyard/Ranger get together - hopefully that'll work out - and maybe some other regional get togethers will happen as well!? I know that they do a lot of that in Ohio as well.
