I had a dream last night. - 08/29/08 02:02 AM

I had a dream last night that I was visiting the busse factory. They give tours to you groups and show the gift shop first were you can but the shirts and shot glasses. Then to my suprise th tour guide took us in to the manufacturing portion of the building were they were placing handles on knives, lots and lots of knives and they were all scrap yard knives. Of course they never showed us the room were the heat treat takes place. I woke up both excited and disapointed it was only a dream.
Anybody here ever seen the busse building?

fact or fiction: I heard it is impossible to "die" in your dreams, you always wake up before it happens.

Way to think out the box.

Ted, every time I come close, I wake up right away. Weird stuff.

The same person also told me you cannot see faces in dreams, but you think you do, because when you wake up, you naturally put a face to the body.

i've died. hit the ground, lights out. i think there was a light, maybe a tunnel. if you're at peace with death, maybe it won't wake you up.

You know the scariest thing, and it was happening to me a couple times while overseas.

You're tossing and turning in your cot, and you roll out of it, still asleep, and you wake up that split second before you hit the ground, and flashing through your mind is that you're falling off the face of the highest cliff in the world, and you hit with your heart racing as if it's gonna pop right outta your throat.

Re: I had a dream last night. - 08/31/08 11:06 AM

to get a little personal here i have woken up completely balling my eyes out and didnt know why.no dream either,i'll just wake up out of nowhere, bolt straight up and find myself crying hard.i never remember even an inkling of a dream either.it has happened a number of times but not in a year or two.once i wake up i stop and then just go back to bed.sometimes i wonder if i have PTSD.

i guess it beats sleep walking which is what my kid does.

i dont ever recall dying in my dreams although i have killed in them once or twice.

i do have dreams where i'm being chased but i cant run.it feels like i'm trying to run while in chest high water or my legs feel like lead and just wont go.
that one clearly means i'm running from something in life probably.i've heard other people having this one.

dreams are crazy, imo a time when we "break on through to the other side" as jim morrison said.

they say we only harness 14% of our mental ability.some obviously less than that...lol.

Re: I had a dream last night. - 08/31/08 11:43 AM

I have read and believe when you dream of death it means change. If you die, something in yourself is now different, you've grown or changed, like you've gotten over a heartbreak or you've graduated, you've overcome something big to you, you are no longer/feel like a child, your a man or have accomplished something important to you. Usually it's a very good/positive thing I think when you dream death.

omg tyger my worst falling dream I was on a speed boat, going super fast and I was on the bow and they made a sharp turn and I fell off into the water, I think I woke up in the air from my jump!

Ahahah, some funny stories.

I can't fight in my dreams. Period. I love boxing, wrestling, football, or any contact sport, but in my dreams, every time I throw a punch, I lose my balance or I can't put any power behind it. Whoever I'm fighting just keeps laughing at me, weird.

Re: I had a dream last night. - 09/01/08 05:43 AM

lol
I've had dreams like that too pink... you keep punching them but they won't go down!!

this thread is deep man... I've had dreams where I was just laying paralyzed at the bottom of the steps in my old house... and to the right (in the kitchen) was pitch black... and something would creep towards me... then my dad would run down the stairs and carry me up.

Re: I had a dream last night. - 09/01/08 06:17 AM

Good thing I don't sleep walk, I would be scared as hell if I occasionally woke somewhere else.

Anybody ever experience sleep paralysis?
"Sleep paralysis occurs when the brain awakes from a REM state, but the bodily paralysis persists. This leaves the person fully conscious, but unable to move. In addition, the state may be accompanied by terrifying hallucinations (hypnopompic or hypnagogic) and an acute sense of danger." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis)

It's happened to me once, I was fully awake, but I could not move, fortunately I didn't get any hallucinations. My friend however gets sleep paralysis often and says he seen some crazy stuff.

Re: I had a dream last night. - 09/01/08 06:18 AM

I watched a show about sleep walking and what not, one man Killed his father while sleep walking. Some other people make food, some lady put butter on a slice of cheese, woke up w/ it next to her or something to that effect.

When I dream, whenever I punch, I can't hold my hand right? My hand folds over and I am punching w/ the back of my hand......Weird?
Posted By: eatingmuchface

Re: I had a dream last night. - 09/01/08 06:23 AM

that means you have weak wrists and should drink more milk when dreaming nick.
duh!

pink: I get that sometimes! most of the time when my dreams involve animals???
well, I might just be too scared to move, because I don't really get any hallucinations.
idk.
but either way, it's pretty scary.

I have experienced being held down and suffocated by some unseen physical force while asleep. I am certain to this day that the force was spiritual in nature. As a few friends of mine have experienced the same, I figure we must have been smoking the same bad stuff at the time...

Re: I had a dream last night. - 09/01/08 11:54 AM

my worst dreams, the ones I hate are where I'm at a party and I start talking to a beautiful, amazing female and things are going great, and then I wake up!!! grrrrr

One of my favorite dreams I had was I met "God" and I asked him every question under the sun, and he answered them all, and then he said I will forget every answer when I wake up because I'm not suppose to know all that now!

I wonder if I asked him how INFI and SR77 are made?!

Re: I had a dream last night. - 09/01/08 11:58 AM

speaking of sleep walking........

i've seen this happen twice.someone gets really drunk and falls asleep.later they wake up to use the bathroom and while they think they're using the toilet their not.in one case it was my buddie's aunt's bed and another one it was a closet.

their they stand, draining the lizard in someones bedroom & on their bed or in their closet thinking their in the bathroom and using the toilet.

needless to say on both occasions they where manually "snapped/slapped" back into reality/consciousness and found themselves face first on the front lawn.

and on both occasions once they where awake they had no recollection of what they had done or why they where thrown out the front door.

my mom says me and my brother used to argue with each other in our sleep.thats pretty funny.

This is similar to Night terrors some children experience(myself included). Science has recently determined that the part of your brain that controls breathing actually falls asleep and the feeling of suffocation is exactly that. Your conscious mind wakes up and has to wake up that part of the brain that controls breathing. The brain usually learns that this is a bad thing to do and they outgrow it. Perhaps something you were doing caused your brain to forget and get sleepy.

Sleep Terrors

Re: I had a dream last night. - 09/03/08 02:48 AM

Scariest thing ever some of the guys talk about was when we were overseas. First couple weeks we were in Afcrackistan, 8 people to a tent, so we all hear each other while we're sleeping.

Everyone is trying to get acclimated to the weather, the noise, the conditions, etc. I'm noticing my tentmates seem pretty tired all the time, so I mention to them they should get to bed earlier, and let their bodies adjust to the time change and all that jazz. They give me this scared look, and just say,"Uh, yeah, maybe we'll do that."

So, about two weeks later, they're all still looking pretty much like the living dead, and the Warrant Officer comes up to me and asks if I've had enough fun scaring the crap out of my tentmates! I look at him, completely confused, and ask what the heck he's talking about??

First night there, they apparently thought I was crying in my sleep. As they're laying there, trying to get to sleep and figure what to do with this "weakling", they come to the realization that I'm not crying, I'm giggling; and not like a silly little girl, but like that guy in the movies, who's just lost all sanity and killed off all his mates, you know!?! This has been going on for about a week and a half before they decide to involve the chain of command, because they're afraid I'm dreaming of getting the chance to kill them in their sleep! LOL! I couldn't believe it; sure, this was the first time I'd served with this guys outside of the home unit and all, but I figured they'd know me a little better than that!

So the Warrant shakes his head, tells me to go see the medics, and get some sleeping pills that'll hopefully knock me into a deep enough sleep that I'm not terrifying the guys with my "night giggles". They worked; I was late a few times to shift because the pills were so strong, but the Warrant let it slip, since it was allowing the others to adjust to me and get some sleep as well!

What do you think?? I never knew I was a night giggler! LOL!

Re: I had a dream last night. - 09/03/08 03:19 AM

Could have been a great way to get a tent to yourself tho Tyger!

One of the most common knock backs for guys going on selection for Special Forces here is snoring loudly....it can compromise everyone....

Hard to bear because you cannot control how you sleep....never heard of giggling before....although there was a guy who earned his nickname whilst sleeping....he got rather excited whilst dreaming and was offered extra doses of Bromine.... he must have had those pretty women dreams down to a fine art!

Tyger....are you nocturnal? You seem to pull some late night stints!

Re: I had a dream last night. - 09/03/08 02:50 PM

I've become used to very little sleep for long periods of time.

When I was overseas, I was working solid 12 to 17 hour work days, just trying to keep up with the workload that was coming down on me and the other 2 guys I worked with. I'd essentially just crash on the occasional day we were given off. Of course, a boatload of caffeine helps, too! LOL! I tell you though, the three of us were burnt out and glad to see the end of that tour.

I will admit, I am more of a night person than I am a morning person. I don't go hiding in a corner screaming,"The light! IT burns! IT burns!", but I do love to sleep in! LOL!

Nowadays, I usually go to bed somewhere around 1 or 2 in the morning, and I'm up to go to work at about 5:45 in the morning, as it's a solid 34 minute highway drive to my base.

On weekends, I'll go to bed whenever, sometimes when I see the sun starting to peek out! LOL!

Re: I had a dream last night. - 09/03/08 05:19 PM

Gotta love it, eh? LOL!

Most people think I'm nuts, but I like the quiet, and the wildlife that comes out at night. most people in my neighborhood don't even realize how many wild animals live in our area. Deer, foxes, rabbits, raccoons, skunks (could do without them! LOL!), patridge, turkey, ducks, and a couple of times bears (Eeep! )... I've seen all of these in my little area in just the last couple months, and enjoy watching them, and of course maybe wishing that I lived with a few less neighbors... wild game tastes far better than store bought, after all.
