NMSFNO Announced... - 10/08/08 06:02 AM

See Hey!. . . . Who Melted My SFNO???? . . . . .

Looks as if my dream of obtaining three SODs has been dashed. Now I can only pick up one as I must have a NMSFNO ...

I wish, cant do it all. My NMFBM will have to do it for now from Busse.

You can have it all as long as you are willing to join me in further credit debt!

I could have some serious decisions to make in the next few hours . I just cannot buy them all. Especially when our dollar$ just hit the 68 cent mark

Who needs that when we have the SoD!

Fall into debt! Do it not just for the SOD. Do it for the SOD *and* NMSFNO!

I am interested to see how much it's going to go for, I bet it'll be pricey with the convex grind.

Yeah mate, I think my son & I will have to share the one SOD. The Aussie $$$ just went 65 cents. That's a 3 cent drop in a few hours . Then Pay Pal takes another 2-3 cents off that, so it'll be into the 50's before long . Maybe no SOD .

The world is a crazy place ATM

Wow! I just checked the exchange, and the Canadian dollar is worth 90 cents US, and $1.40 Australian. Hopefully, it doesnt get any worse, so we all can enjoy getting some SODs, and possibly an NMSFNO.

Re: NMSFNO Announced... - 10/08/08 01:55 PM

I was interested in a SFNO, but I think I'd prefer something a bit easier on my bank account, like a SODLE. Depends on just how much Jerry is asking for the SFNO. So as the world plunges into the economic abyss and my retirement pension becomes worthless, I am still buying steel. Glad I didn't buy AIG. Maybe a golden Busse would be a good investment now.

Re: NMSFNO Announced... - 10/08/08 03:36 PM

I know it seems bad and for some people especially in the US it is BUT unless you are directly affected by one of the banks that went under or simply HAVE to take cash out in the next year or so from your retirement you are in a lot better shape then it looks.

Step one QUIT WATCHING THE [censored] NEWS!!! ,it can't help and it is just stressing you out.

step 2 realize and accept that 90% of this market collapse is based on nothing but fear. People saw some big banks in the US go belly up and panicked which drove the stocks down which caused more panic. Even oil went down to 90$ a barrel and it is not like we weren't freaking out about high oil prices last month.

Step 3 thank god there is an emotion that is more than capable of dispelling fear.
That beautiful human emotion is GREED! Already very smart people have been there every time the market hit record lows to rush in and score some really good deals. This popped the markets back up for a while. Soon people will start to realize that there are some sweet bargains to be had while the market is low.
Just thank your lucky stars we don't have to rely on altruism!

Step4 Beg borrow and steal all the cash you can and buy some stock right now!!!

Buy low sell high! If you don't you will kick yourself for the rest of your lives!

Also people buying stock is what will fix the markets.
It will also make you feel like instead of being helpless while this happens to you instead you are not only rolling with the punches you are doing financial judo.

Step 5 ,after the markets come back. When they come back and they will you should put some money into something like gold that when the markets go down it goes up. Not everything or even most of it but enough so when this happens again
that if you need cash at that time you can sell something that is worth more
while stocks are down.

Back on topic, when is the Busse site going to show this hint of the NMSFNO? I check on there and see nothing but the hacks still

Re: NMSFNO Announced... - 10/08/08 10:09 PM

The pics are up at the Busse forum, but it isn't in the store yet. While I don't dislike it, I don't have any burning desire to own one. I am sure others will like it more. I'm glad I went with the Bravo-2 and SODLE. It just doesn't appeal to me as much as the Sarsquatch or ASH1. I like the hand finished convex edge on the LE. With a blade over 8", it is a big knife. If I am wanting a BIG Busse, the FBM or FFBM will do just fine. For once, I'm glad I don't like it that much. Too many nice models at one time gets expensive. Especially Busse LEs.

Re: NMSFNO Announced... - 10/08/08 10:13 PM

Now that I've secured a SY that just blows me away, I can relax a bit. I would love to own a Busse, but I'm still not really willing to pay more than the original price.

I can wait 'til next time.

I'm with Vic, this one's cool, just doesn't jump out and grab me (or the wallet from my pocket at least!)

Re: NMSFNO Announced... - 10/08/08 10:32 PM

I too find that it doesnt grab me, I already own two SFNO's and I really like them. I dont know what this one would give me over my sabre ground ones, I'am going to buy one anyway just to see if I like it and since I dont have a FSH this would slide into that gap. It may be the longer blade or the non sabre grind, anyway alot of people will be happy to get a shot at one.

Re: NMSFNO Announced... - 10/08/08 10:43 PM

I still like FSH better.

I can't afford a Busse yet, but when I do get one, it's going to be a FBM, FSH, or AK, and I hope they don't make it in NM. I got to handle and chop with Ban's Banned NMFBM CG, and the NM didn't really appeal to me. Maybe it'll grow on me, but initially I don't really like it, then again, it's not that big of a deal.

I went to the forum, but do you have to be a member logged in to see it?? I don't have an account there, just went anonymousy, saw a handful of posts, but none relating pics or prices for the NMSFNO... What's the deal?

That sums it up for me except my favorite Busse in that size is the FSH. The NMSFNO looks nice, but I prefer the lines of the original.

SOD for me.

Maybe it was not up yet. Anyway's you do have to sign up on Blade to see post's, but not in the Exchange forums. Also, I'm not saying this pic was in the Exchange forum, only if you want to see what people are selling, you do not have to be a member, just to look, but not able to contact the seller.

$327 for the standard one isn't bad for a hunk of INFI, still I'm going to hold off for a FSH or FBM.

Re: NMSFNO Announced... - 10/09/08 05:01 AM

Not to bad. Don't have the money though.

Re: NMSFNO Announced... - 10/09/08 05:04 AM

the price is fair. i don't see the allure of the hand shaped micarta. no need to raise the price and machines are more consistent.

Yep, if you get a lot more INFI on the LE than the CG (blade thickness) the hike is fair enough(ish..). $40 or $50 is quite enough hike for a bit of polishing- not nearly double the price.. Remember satin is not high quality mirror finish, frankly why they charge ANY extra is debatable!! Dan's SOD LE hike is a little fairer. I know Jerry will sell heaps of everything but the (LE) prices are a bit silly imho. Having said all that, the NMSFNO does look very cool!

Re: NMSFNO Announced... - 10/10/08 04:16 AM

The exclusive tiger hide handles also add to the cost so you are not only paying extra for the satin finish. I think the idea of selling "one of a kind" numbered blade also appeal to some...

On the first point Mike Stewart at Bark River charges an extra $20 for cool multicolour G10 grips over black micarta (1855 bowie model used for pricing as similar size to NMSFNO). So the custom tiger scale material is hardly a super selling point!

The serial point is agreed- I have a serial numbered Wilkinson Sword Dartmoor knife, totally a safe queen (mainly because it's DF heavy and the DF kicks it's butt!).

Just for the record and to show I'm not (Jerry) Busse bashing; the only knife I can think of that would replace my S6 as my general carry would be my Basic 7 which TOTALLY rocks! However my Badger Attack would never replace my S6..

The NMSFNO is a very nice knife from what I can make out in the photo's. Personally I'd go for black G10 and desert olive combo then satin the blade grind leaving paint around the ricasso and grip to protect the INFI (and avoid having to polish out those darn dimples!!). I'd then wrap the grip in electrician tape and para cord to make it a nicer thing to use on cold wet days.. or when you have accidental encounters with live mains voltage!! Did that once, it's makes you jump!
