Busse Boss HG-55.. - 02/17/09 08:02 AM

I think I would like one of these does anyone know when they'll be put up on Busse's website? Also can we expect a coated version released simultaneously as is the norm? What happened to the blade scallops on the final version? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Well the only scalloped version I have seen in full, is the military over-run being offered in the Cupidganza.

This one's a pass for me too.
I've put a pre-order in on the M9, and I like it far better
than this offering.
Now, just have to wonder what the next ScrapYard offering is going to be? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I'm still waiting for Jerry to explain the purpose of the cheddarations on the blade. The only thing I can attribute them to is indigestion. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
you have to wonder if when Jerry threw that teaser pic up and read all the "tactical bread knife" comments if he had a change of heart and left the scallups off the production run and decided to sell it in the ganza. He would probably never admit that though

Re: Busse Boss HG-55.. - 02/17/09 05:40 PM

The Chef Tony miracle blades have very similar Scallops on the blades.Maybe it's to keep weight down and keep cutting material from sticking to the blade, especially if you consider it a fighting knife.OUCH! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

Re: Busse Boss HG-55.. - 02/17/09 05:57 PM

Yeah, I'm gunna skip it, unless I can muster up enough for the LE.

I have the M9LE and the Scrap Muk LE on order, and I couldn't be happier right now.

I love Busskin.

Re: Busse Boss HG-55.. - 02/17/09 06:52 PM

It is pronounced Bus-ee right? I've heard people pronounce it like the actor Gary Busey(is that spelled right?)I don't think thats right.

Bus-ee, learned something new today!

Re: Busse Boss HG-55.. - 02/17/09 09:24 PM

I've been wondering how to pronounce it(correctly). I'm going to pass on this one too, it's a bit much for my tastes. I much prefer blades in the 4" to 7" range. That is a nice avatar Meatcutter.

Re: Busse Boss HG-55.. - 02/17/09 10:43 PM

I prefer the satin blade, non-scalloped version myself. However, it's probably priced beyond my reach since I have a ScrapMuk and M9 LE ordered. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Thanks I think i found it on photobucket somewhere.

Re: Busse Boss HG-55.. - 02/18/09 02:34 AM

I think so also Bruce, but I sure like the looks of the satin non-scalloped one! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Re: Busse Boss HG-55.. - 02/18/09 02:51 AM

I just don't have a use for a dedicated fighting knife so as cool as the LE looks I think I'm going to have to sit this one out. Now if I could figure out a reason why this would fill some utility role that my SJ and Desert Jack can't handle I might reconsider. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

There's at least one blade on each page of Jerry's Cupidganza post that I would love to have! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />

ME TOO... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

I keep thinking about it and then reminding myself about what I've already ordered... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

I think the CG is butt ugly. The LE is kind of appealing but it doesn't really do it for me.

Re: Busse Boss HG-55.. - 02/18/09 03:51 PM

I can't resist anything with a bowie shaped blade!Ever since my dad gave me an old bowie knife when I was little to carry in the woods, dont remember the brand but the ricasso had Solingen an a couple other names on it.Anyway the blade shape of this knife to me suggests a skinning knife, that long curved belly sort of remind me of my Dads Schrade woodsman.

Re: Busse Boss HG-55.. - 02/18/09 06:51 PM

I like the scalloped version with the coated blade and beefy tip. I'm not an inducted HOG or whatever that is so it isn't going to happen I am afraid. When will they be available anyway? What will they cost?

Re: Busse Boss HG-55.. - 02/18/09 06:55 PM

Just keep checking Jerry's sub-forum (Busse Combat Knives) over at Bladeforums or the Busse Combat site. The information should be coming out today or tomorrow. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I checked the prices for the Cupidganza offerings - <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> No new knives for me there! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />

Re: Busse Boss HG-55.. - 02/19/09 02:11 PM

Yes, I liked 4B...a nice FSH Variant...then the price of $827 came out!!! Plus you get no feed back on weight or finish...it is probably Satin but has the style for a D/C version...still at those prices I am likely to pass. My D/C FSH's from Knob Creek were $480 or there abouts...under $500 anyway...that is a lot of money on top of what I paid only 5 months ago...but it could be the .32 thick version...in which case it is too heavy for my needs...which brings me back to the problem of not having any proper spec's on the knives!!

Buying at a show seems better value and better sense!

Yeah, I can't afford any of them either. I think I will be plenty happy with the Muk and the M9LE!

I wish I didn't have to pay tuition.

Re: Busse Boss HG-55.. - 02/19/09 06:49 PM

I have had some expensive knives, I don't think I'm buying anything priced at 800 plus bucks anytime soon.
