I Love this Muk!!!! - 03/02/09 06:47 PM

We it's been an extremely busy weekend, but an extremely rewarding one as well! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Got my Muks in Saturday and what can I say but I love it!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> This is the first time I've had a blade of this style and I'm sure there are good and cheaper Muk type knives, but the combination of this hardy 154cm blade and Mudder handle along with the unbeatable Scrap Yard warrenty make this a real winner in my book and well worth it!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Also a big Thank You to the one and only Dumpster Diva a other Scrap Yard crew members for doing such a great job making all us Dogs happy! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" />

Now for a few pics! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Makes a great companion for the BDLE too! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

[Linked Image from i150.photobucket.com]

One with the other number 35 Scrappers! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

[Linked Image from i150.photobucket.com]

I just love those Mudder handles!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

[Linked Image from i150.photobucket.com]

And last but not least I had to take a least a tiny bit of time over the weekend and make some pants to see how it'd work out. These worked out pretty dog gone good! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Now I hope I get some time next weekend to get out and play with a Muk! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Just opened up Muk #45. Love it. Love those mudder handles. Can't wait until I come to the top of Jeff's list so I can get some kydex for this bad boy.

Who's going to be the first one to sharpen up the swedge?

Thanks guys, looks like I've got my work cut out for me... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

As far as Leather, WD... I keep thinking that even with the Res-C handles, the muk would look cool and a pouch style leather or rawhide sheath with tassels or something... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> I've even been thinking of a way to incorporate that into a kydex sheath somehow for the more modern look to better match the knife, just for the fun of it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Great pics, gotta agree I love the mudd handles too. they just feel right to me. I like the kydex sheath though leather might look darn good, it is a nessy after all.

Way to go Jeff - the Muk and sheath look great!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> I received my Muk today, and like you I love those mudder handles! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Re: I Love this Muk!!!! - 03/03/09 02:01 AM

Great looking sheath. After seeing the pic of your BD next to the MUK I now need one of them too.

A friend ordered a MUK and doesn't like it so I might be picking it up off him. What is funny is my # is about 140 different than his. To me the MUK will be a great outdoor blade but I think getting a fine edge will kill me LOL.

Great looking sheath Jeff. Are you planning on molding other colors of kydex? Would love to see what you can pull off.

What a great pair the Bird Dog and Muk make together!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

I really like the size of the Muk! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I am going mad waiting for my shipping notice!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

Re: I Love this Muk!!!! - 03/05/09 07:41 AM

loving the muk...

my muk is probably gonna spend a good bit of time around the kitchen and maybe the grill. i'm thinking some type of short metal lanyard with a loop for hooks at the end. a easy to clean sheath to keep it handy and store it would make it perfect for what i'd be doing. any ideas??

Sounds interesting... Mmmmm.. I'm not totally sure I'm getting the picture totally, but sounds like your wanting more of a holder than an actual sheath... right?

Re: I Love this Muk!!!! - 03/06/09 06:00 AM

don't quite have it pictured myself. i just know that if i'm cooking i tend to set my utensils down all over the place. inside when i'm out and so on... i also wish that the knife would just magically float because i'm always wiping it off just to sit down only to use it again within seconds. would rather stick it in some kinda sheath and clean both the sheath and knife when i'm done.

this is just a brain fart but i quess i was thinking of some kind of sheath perforated on the sides or maybe just one side. or maybe even just one shaved off on one side. i know the sheaths are designed to drain but my thinking is this might help get the heavy bbq sauce and vegetable flesh out a little quicker for a kitchen commando. ohh and maybe some type of gator clip thing so that it could be taken off and on a little faster. also one might be hacking on some cooked ribs and wanna clip the knife to the old bib or something. or clip it to a cabinet door so you can sheath it between red pepper and green peppers.

i don't know... just being lazy i guess.

Re: I Love this Muk!!!! - 03/06/09 06:25 AM

Sounds like you could use a simple sheath with a holster clip? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

The mudder handles are my favorite so far.. Wish they could make them in a larger size for some of the bigger knives.

Thanks for the info. I'm starting to get a picture in my head... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

A loose fitting kydex sheath, maybe with a series of holes along it's length, for drainage and easy cleaning. A belt clip might work, but the Alligator clip idea sounds kinda interesting, aside from being able to clip it on something, if it's made the way I'm thinking when it's sat down on a surface like a kitchen counter the Alligator clip would almost act as a stand holding ithe knife at an angle, allowing the knife to drain between uses. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Am I on the right track? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Re: I Love this Muk!!!! - 03/06/09 06:37 AM

probably so... not having seen the sheath in person might be over thinking it. even with a closer look at the pic above the hole at the bottom looks a little bigger than i imagined.

preforated would still look pretty cool though... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

thought i might be going overboard but i think you see what i'm getting at. in fact you took if a up a notch with the stand idea. i was just thinking to clip it onto what was close by but that's mucho cool.
