That is a pretty cool set-up you have there. To me, it looks like you're going with the idea of a Spec-OPS survival sheath system. I like how you approached the idea with kydex and packcloth
Would you happen to have any pic with your system strapped on? Could you post some pics of that? I'd love to see the different ways you could don it!

Thanks for the coments. The saw is great, it is a Pocket Boy with large teeth, makes short work of most tasks.

It is pretty big! On one of our get togethers I was having some trouble getting a fire started with a LMF Army model firesteel so one of the other guys gave me this honker! It works great, and has been used a lot since I got it.

This is the only pic I have now of it being worn.
You can find more on the design at River-8's home page found here.
http://www.riverside-graphics.net/SARgear.htmlThe rig can be worn low like in the pic or it can be worn high by runing a belt thru the suspension system where the brass ring is.

Great looking pics. I really like the looks and utility of the piggy-backed sheaths. I just traded into a Chris Reeve GB, that might get one of the pb systems.
What all is in the side pouch? I see fire steel and sapwood.
Thanks for sharing.

Great knife and a great rig going there,I love the feeling of being in the wild with a sweet blade on my side. It's that ready for any situation feeling I guess. Then of course you start looking for a situation just so you can use your knife!

Good deal, what would you pair it up with?
Glow stick
metal match
storm matches
fox 40 whistle
fatwood
a scraper I made out of a sawzall blade (for making fatwood dust)

No, the hole was in it when it was given to me.

I like the set up. How is the Izula. I had been looking at them. Does anyone know how they compare to the swamp warden?

It is very comfortable, little movement. The only problem I have is the lack of a good belt. I am using a cheap leather belt that tends to sag and the thigh strap drops and loosens. I am waiting on a Wilderness belt that should be the cure.
River-8 is a long time SAR guy and makes these sheaths for the SAR crowd, so belive me when I tell you that a lot of miles have been put on some of these rigs!!

The Izula is great, it could use a little more handle in my opinion. But I have fairly large hands. I think it is a little shorter than the SW. I was really trying to find a SW but for the money they were getting on the exchange I figured the Izula was my best bet.

Nice outfit!
Is the pouch detachable or is it permanent part of the sheath?
Posted By: Snakedoc
Re: SoD and Izula piggyback - 04/16/09 06:22 PM
It is permanent, riveted on with the copper rivets.

Awesome! It looks great, and to hear that it also feels great is functional makes it all the sweeter. A Wilderness belt will definitly solve that saggy belt problem, good choice

Re: SoD and Izula piggyback - 04/18/09 05:57 AM
yeah i think so too.
I think the SOD is a classic since its the perfect do it all camp knife. Almost like the CT is for swamprat.

Re: SoD and Izula piggyback - 04/19/09 01:29 PM
If making your own sheath, just sew a 1" strap to the large sheath allowing enough room for the handle of the smaller knife. Then attach a holster clip to the smaller sheath, allowing for a piggyback set-up or individual carry of each knife.

Re: SoD and Izula piggyback - 04/19/09 10:34 PM
Thanks Doc! I have done this with a few of my sheaths so that I can carry a large and small blade together, or seperate them if so desired. It works quite well!
