More Rainwalker goodness!!!

More Rainwalker goodness!!! - 04/20/09 12:31 AM

Hi yard i just got my first pants from the leather genius Rainwalker. i got these pants for my SOD. the fit and finish are superb! i wanted the sheath to be detachable so i could throw it in a pocket or take it off for sitting or anything else without having to undo my belt and all that rigamarole! so rainwalker said i needed a frog (i thought he was joking at first!) i must say it is a HUNK of leather! its gotta be thicker than my cgfbm sheath. the stud firsts perfectly in place and i even got some cool little lines on the frog. some sutilties include the belt loop and top of frog being beveled at an angle along with the snap. i am very pleased with his work. thanks jeff!!!

now the pics!

Sweeet!!

Before the SOD came out, I worked with Jeff to make one with a stud and removable frog just like that, but instead of the retention strap on the handles, it wraps around the square choil. I didn't go through with it because money got tight, but I still plan to get one later.

Awsome. If I end up with a DF, or other large chopper, that is the sheath I want for it.

Black leather, ohhhhhh, ahhhhhhh!

Great looking sheath, Matt. It is much like the one I have for my Crowell-Barker competition knife, only Jeff's work is better. Very practical and handy. That is a good idea for any large knife. He did me a machete sheath with a detachable frog.

Wow, that is some very nice work. I'll have to employ rainwalker for my scrapyards! Once I get the SS4 stripped, he's the man.

Thanks for the pics Matt. Definitely a sweet design I wonder if a "frog" can be done with a kydex sheath/leather "holder" combo hmmmm.......

Nice. That looks really good. I'm leaning towards something like that for the M9 LE (if and when I ever get one...)

Re: More Rainwalker goodness!!! - 04/20/09 03:01 AM

Right you are Vic! I might make a "frog sheath" for the M9LE once I receive it!

That is a real cool setup. Never saw one like that. You are right, Rainwalker is a true craftsman.

I'm glad to see that your SOD pants... and Frog made it safe and sound. I'm glad you like them too!! Your Very Welcome!

The frog can be very handy, I've made quite a few sheaths with frogs, I used to make them more for Medieval Sword scabbards when I was heavily into the Medieval reenactment stuff. But they are handy on a good standard fixed blade as well.

Thanks Dan... I couldn't agree more. Although I'm around leather constantly, I never get tired of that leather smell when I'm working with it.

Thanks guys for the complements... Looks like I may be making some more frogs in the future...

I've done some simple upholstery in the past and my wife has some relatives that have done upholstery, so I guess I could do it... I've never had the need to make a motorcycle seat... yet.

Re: More Rainwalker goodness!!! - 04/20/09 08:25 PM

i'll send you the pan. do you need padding? i'll need to find a stiff memory foam.

gotta be as low profile as possible. maybe something with a gator or ostrich inlay.

trouble is i probably couldn't bring myself to sit on a rainwalker seat.

I guess I could find the padding... I'll be glad to see what I can do. Sounds like an interesting challenge.
