HOLY SOD!!! - 05/19/09 03:54 AM

Wow! Just got my first ScrapYard in hand. SOD baby. All I can say is that I love it and I think I already need another. It feels great in the hand and although I usually prefer a flat grind on most knives the high saber works perfectly on this one. The balance is great and it chops really well for its size! Plus I love the slight clip point on this baby. Couldn't be happier with this one. I'll add pics to this as soon as somebody tells me how the hell to do it

Re: HOLY SOD!!! - 05/19/09 04:33 AM

the SOD is definitely up there in my "want" list. Just don't WANT to pay secondhand prices

Re: HOLY SOD!!! - 05/19/09 04:37 AM

Yeah I got a good deal on mine...$150 in unused condition. I wouldn't pay much more than that...well now that I have one maybe I would

Good looking SoD, should serve you well!!

Re: HOLY SOD!!! - 05/19/09 09:21 PM

Those SoDs are a great knife; many have compared it to the old Swamp Rat Camp Tramp. Its not quite the chopper that a DF is, but it's useful for more than just chopping and is quite a bit easier to carry; sort of like the relationship between the Busse Combat FBM and FSH.

OT comment: You made a good move by withdrawing your NMSFNO; I've been trying to cut back on my spending (Knob Creek was quite expensive), but I kept visiting your thread. I'd finally convinced myself that it was too good a deal to let pass when I saw you'd withdrawn it. Nothing against the M9LE (they're good knives and very HOT right now), but all things being equal, my opinion is that a NMSFNO with hand-shaped Micarta is the superior blade in all but appearance.

Re: HOLY SOD!!! - 05/20/09 03:44 AM

Yeah I'm glad I decided to keep it. I actually picked up a second M9 (I got the first for myself) to give to my brother only to relize that I had stretched my finances a little too far. I was going to sacrifice the NMSFNO but decided to sell the M9 instead and give my brother one of the S5's I'll be getting. He won't be any the wiser and I'm sure he'll love the S5.
