Is D2 steel usually cheaper than SR-101 or SR-77?

The D2 doesn't do much for me, but they are very nice looking knives, and I like the way the choil is set up, so it doesn't eat so much blade space. I guess it all depends on the price.

Yah- the S5s are the best lookin so far for sure. At 100 bucks per pop a guy can get 5 or 6 and do well. Hell of a buy IMO. These do look nice at 99 a pop so might get some as soon as in store. It looks like Busse is moving around a bit on steel which I really think is great. Makes for a more well rounded collection. I don't really care that much about D2 steel. I've just never really liked it a whole lot. And I agree with Ordawg1... I think the S5 is the best-looking smaller knife right now out of the S5, the Vexillaris, and the SAR4.

I am thinking the Vex will be in the store at like 99 bucks which is still a great knife. The Waki might be in short supply and I haven't a clue of what the price might be ? Maybe 350 or so ? Anybody that hasn't stocked up on S5s better do so cause I am bettin they will pull em. Well if I ever did make it to blade I would have no idea what to buy, all company's did a bang up job this year.

D2 is OK in a smaller blade like this IMO. I have been mixing my customs with 3 V ( which is purely heaven) and ATS just to broaden my collection. I am thinking around 99 bucks on these Bruce- but you might be right. Graet looking for kitchen or gifts is what I am thinking. They sure kinda look like a Dozier and you are right about no complaints. Doc D is also pricey as hell- but probably worth every penny. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Jimmie has a few and I ran into his apprentice at the Eugene Knife Show. Great looking steel I must say. You should head up this way next yaer and I'll buy you and the wife dinner. I think you would really enjoy yourself. Hopefully Jimmie - Dave and maybe even Justin Gingrich will make it out next year. Hey MC !! Won't be at Blade West. I am in the bottom of Grand Canyon the whole month of September and part of October !! There is a big show in Las Vegas in January I think ? It is a big knife/ gun show and I think I will be there. Want to do that big [censored] zip line @ Boulder City and play in Vegas as well.

i have to disagree. that's enough to know this is designed to be a super sharp slicer. only thing we're really missing is blade length, but i get the idea from the pic and a thin D2 knife isn't about blade length anyway. shorter is better for controlled cutting, which is what this knife is for.
